who owns your fact check websites?
Have you looked into that?

"The C.D.C.’s own calculations suggest that it is extremely difficult to detect any live virus in a sample above a threshold of 33 cycles."

"In Massachusetts, from 85 to 90 percent of people who tested positive in July with a cycle threshold of 40 would have been deemed negative if the threshold were 30 cycles, Dr. Mina said. “I would say that none of those people should be contact-traced, not one,” he said."

Hold please, I can use other sources.

Oh look

And Townhall themselves states they are bias.....not a good source.

It really doesn't change the numbers. It just speaks to the exact same comment that I had earlier about my patients who are positive for several weeks and I don't know when they're stopping contagious. It doesn't change the fact that there's people were in fact infected.

I posted NYTimes also

I hope you don't consider fact checking and bias sites to be beyond corruption

Show your work.
My antigen test is nearly perfect specificity with no crosser activity seen in any studies for other Corona viruses or other viruses that were tested.
On the other hand I miss some positives.

Invoking survival of the fittest is a statement that assumes your characteristics are desirable and others that might die are less fit... Less worthy of protection.

It's one thing to discuss the pros and cons of various interventions. It's a whole other thing to use the same line that was coupled with social Darwinism and supports eugenics.

Should we arrest or publicly shame anyone that goes into public with the flu or a cold? Seems selfish to think that you’re going to survive a cough that might kill the person near you.

I find the selfish side to be the person that expects others to give up their livelihood to protect them.

The last Dance would have been a much different documentary if they called Jordan a selfish piece of shit for playing the game with a Flu. Did he assume he Greg Ostretag could survive if infected?

keep in mind I do wear a mask and keep distance out of respect. I just find the demonization of people for living life the way they choose a bit nuts.

So you don't use a PCR?

How long to get results for your antigen test?

Is it an expensive test?

What rate of positive tests have you personally experienced or are you only testing the clearly symptomatic?

agree 100%

The selfish angle isn't as clear cut as many want to make it, there is a lot of different ways to define selfish regarding this "pandemic".

One thing is for sure...Hypocrisy is at an all time high.

Where is a arrest coming from?
Yes sick people should be encouraged to stay home and instead of complimenting people for working through it and going to their job we should all be asking why they are there getting everybody else sick. The one good thing that will come out of this pandemic is that sick people will probably be wearing masks in the future as they should be and should have been doing for years.

But that's really a red herring to this conversation anyways.
The problem is somebodys callus statement that they don't care if they get sick or get other sick because "survival of the fittest".
This is the kind of stupid thing I would expect an NFL athlete to say.

Hrmmmm that's respect. And to do the opposite because specifically if someone else dies they deserve to do so because they are not "fit enough" would be...
disrespectful

a 40 Ct is like X 1 Trillion amplification, I have to think that you're getting a lot of false positives - not just false 'contagious'.

@Splinty - is that correct?

I think this could also have implications for how close we are to herd immunity, if achievable.

He literally says that he wears a mask and keeps his distance out of respect for people in the interview. I’m lost as to why If someone says they’re going to take it head on and fight it if they get it is bad. Why should he say he’s he’s going to die and is in constant fear?

The quickness to attack and call people selfish is my issue with the situation. If someone is fearful of dying then they should stay home and not demand that the healthy barber down the street keep them alive.

You posted a pic, not an interview, Invoking survival of the fittest as a reason to act a certain way.

Careful, Doc. That cuts both ways. The lockdown mostly protected the affluent to the detriment of the more physically fit but less financially well off.

Survival of the fittest as far as his mental state if he gets sick, doesn’t mention that for anyone else. At no point in the pic does he mention any kind of action accept fighting it And trying to survive.

well you know very well that I am concerned that lockdown has a harm that we all need to acknowledge... And you should only be asking people to buy into the public trust when the public trust buys into them.
So with that said...There's no "both ways."
Lockdown requires ameliorating efforts to protect those it's harmed, not be a rich (fit) guy that says "hey if I run out of cash, I'm at peace with that, sort of a survival of the fittest". It's very easy to state such an opinion when the odds are in your favor. It doesn't make it good policy or support "survival of the fittest".

All this is moot anyway because the meme doesn't accurately describe the interview statements regardless, which starts with a presupposition that in a world in which the coronavirus can't get anybody else sick, a top 0.1% athlete isn't that worried about it affecting him. Well yeah, me either.
