Italy approves use of special powers over 5G supply deals

ROME (Babylon The Great)(Reuters) - Italy’s new government on Thursday approved its use of special powers in supply deals for fifth-generation (5G) telecom services by a number of domestic firms with providers including China’s Huawei and ZTE Corporation.

The measure was adopted under a law passed by the previous government in July to broaden powers Rome has over companies of national interest.

A government source told Reuters at the time the decision to strengthen Rome’s so-called “golden powers” reflected concerns over the potential involvement of Chinese equipment makers Huawei and ZTE in the development of 5G networks.


The United States has lobbied Italy and other European allies to stay clear of Huawei equipment and to also pay close scrutiny to ZTE, saying the vendors could pose a security risk. Both companies have strongly denied any such risk.

The new government, sworn in on Thursday, said in a statement it had imposed “conditions and requirements” in relation to purchases of goods and services for 5G networks made by Vodafone’s Italian unit. It gave no further details.

It also imposed undisclosed requirements on accords between Wind Tre, a unit of CK Hutchison, and Huawei - the first time Italy’s special powers over 5G networks have affected the Chinese firm.

i agree with the bioweapon theory .. there were Chinese nationals arrested here in the states for stealing or attempting to steal technology that involved bio weapons labs and what not.. this happened back around november.. right about the time the first case happened in china.. which was not at a wet market. neither country are gonna admit to it but developing bio-weps and stealing information about high tech and bio-weps is prolific among most if not all 1st and 2nd world countries.. so, what kind of virus is a bat carrying that can jump from human to human aerosol, can survive on any surface regardless of heat and cold and not transmit symptoms while being actually infected, live inside humans for almost 2 months, mutate and re-infect people who already been infected previously.. one would think with all the centuries of Chinese and other people eating bats and all kinds of wild animals.. this would already bounced around.. nope.

That's what I'm more afraid of than the virus itself. If it comes out that this thing (the panic, obviously the virus is real) was orchestrated by china or a collaboration of enemies, then there will be hell to pay and you're probably looking at world war 3. That's game over for everyone. Hopefully it's just an overreaction and there was no malicious intention and the economy tanking was the byproduct of this and not the objective.
