if you're soaking in a cloud of SARS-COV2 of the same particulate density and duration as wildfire smoke, your cloth mask won't save you from exposure.

EDIT - i should also clarify that your cloth mask is going to clog very quickly in an environment with ambient wildfire smoke, and draw more air from the imperfections in the seal of your cloth mask.

I've been saying from the beginning these masks dont work. I've had to wear masks for different jobs and they always have to fit well and be sealed like a dive goggles or I'm high from paint chemicals or eating fiberglass. Shaved face and all. But people think a small cloth or dentist mask will do anything when that air is coming from everywhere but through the cloth.

When this all started I was wearing the n95s from work because they make a much better seal. Nowadays people dont give a fuck and wear basically fishnet masks to comply. It's kinda funny

Is the mask not there to prevent you from breathing directly on others or is it there to protect you while taking a breath? I always thought it was to protect others from you.

it's more like if we could require wildfires to wear masks.

there is some protection to the wearer, just by reducing the amount of virus they are exposed to, but there's not really a reason not to wear an N95 mask if you're at risk of exposure.
