Some EGGHEAD decided muricans had to wear seatbelts, even thought 65 percent of us (FREEDOM LOVERS) disagreed. I have a god given right to fly out my front windshield and splatter everywhere!

fine - a not insignificant number. The fact that we're having this conversation.

i'm vaccinated, and I think mandates are bullshit.

what's your source? the FDA? the CDC?
It's a reasonable deduction that at the very least the 43% of Americans who are unvaccinated are opposed to vaccine mandates. I don't think it's a leap to think that there is at least 25% of those who are vaccinated think the vaccine mandates are a bridge too far. Anecdotally, that percentage is much higher. Of the 100 or so people I interact with regularly only about 5 of them are unvaccinated. I can only think of 3 or 4 people who think vaccine mandates are full stop in favor of them.

As if the huddled, ignorant masses of America need to be saved from themselves! They know better!

How does this:

Equate to this:

It’s almost like the goal posts are dancing.
it's a "not insignificant number" and your own sources show that 50% don't support mandates.
literally in your source.

The goalposts ain't even swayed in the breeze, hero.

  • In the early 1980s, the public-safety battle was over seat belts. Most Americans didn't use them, and 65% opposed them being enforced by law.

Sounds like they didn’t know what was in their best interests.
the consequence for not wearing a seatbelt is a civil fine.

what's the consequence for not getting a vaccine?

seatbelts weren't even a moving violation in '86, it was a mandate for poor people.

And if you don’t pay the fine what happens?

If 8 out of 10 thunk it, it’s illogical to infer someone else knows better!

what's illogical is saying that these people are perfectly capable of determining their own best interest in every aspect of their life except the one where you think they should live their live differently.

But no one is saying they are capable of that, that’s why we have mandates and laws on issues of public safety.

you’re being silly

I'm saying the federal gov't doesn't have the authority to mandate vaccinations.

seatbelts are an obvious false equivalency, as I pointed out.
