He should abandon it and try for the HW strap.

If he became HW champ it would do wonders for his legacy - not just because he would be a 2-division champ. It would be a real belt, there would be no Jon Jones asterix, and it would give him something Jones himself wasn't willing to risk fighting for.

For me the P4P talk is marketing nonsense - the HW strap is THE belt until proven otherwise. The UFC HW champ is the best MMA fighter on the planet, full stop.

What does he get out of fighting Gus again or Volkan? HW is the only way to step outside of Jones' shadow.
LOL at this being a great post

He cheated at LHW...all is in doubt

Why would we want to see him at HW...so he can cheat and fraud the sport all over again

Y'all huggers need to get over Jon

So odd to see so many hanging on to hopes about him

most likely ends up sucking dick for crack

Jones has cost Cormier money, wins, legacy, and more. It is far past time to move on past the cheater and let Cormier prove that he is one of the best ever.

So when situations like this happen (when the failed test comes out after the fight has happened), does Jones have to relinquish his fight purse?
I dont think so, but I think if someone fail drug tests, 20% of their purse should go to the commission and UFC & 80% to their opponent. Maybe that requires that payouts be delayed a couple of weeks until drug test results are announced, but it's worth it.

Whats everyone's thoughts on that? Am I toopid?

True , but seriously he is getting in trouble again and again. This has to be a joke.
Do you think he will do more messing up in the future or less?
I mean there could be some entertainment value there...

EDIT: I would be more entertained by watching him fight but hey, in this case I would take the soap opera part of an ex fighter's private escapades as well

idk about that, but i like the idea of the opponent being able to sue them in civil court

You can expect anything from him . Jones should have been smarter than Nick Diaz.
Only a fool would do shit 2 times and get caught.

I have mixed feelings about any money going to the commissions, but I have no problem at all with some or all of the purse money going to the opponent after a failed test.

I dont think any should go to commissions either. I just know they expect their cut, so I included it lol.

In civil court a judge could award more or less damages than just the fighters purse

I'd like to see DC fight Brock. I think that's a very winnable fight for him and would give him back an air of invincibility.

That's actually not a bad idea. And I think he would wreck Brock.

Yeah I agree he would wreck Brock. The fight is a really smart move imo.

1. He gets to smash a hw monster which further proves he's a p4p animal.

2. In beating a clean Brock, Cormier shows he can dominate on a level playing field. This looks especially good against a confirmed PED user who is physically much larger than him.

And he could do all this without stepping on Cain's toes at HW.
