What a fucking joke. I hope Edgar wins the fight and Lucky Charms runs away and never comes back. Zuffa is making a mockery of the sport in recent years. A champ in a division defends his belt, if he doesn't want to and goes up or down in weight then he vacates the belt. Instead of giving Frankie his shot against Irish Spring he has to fight for an interim belt while the four leaf clover gets a rematch of a fight he just got his ass handed to him in. Aldo was the champ for years and he didn't get an instant rematch yet the Leprechaun gets a rematch with Diaz in a fight that makes no sense at all. Edgar deserves the shot and so does Aldo for as long as he was the champ. Conor should be stripped and this fight should be for the title. No fake belt bullshit.

Like it was said above by some posters, if Edgar wins then Conor will never go back to FW. If Aldo wins you win see Conor fight him around UFC 204.

Feels like they are hoping Aldo takes out Edgar and then Conor can come back to 145 once he's on salads again
I really dont know whats considered best case scenario here and who it would even be for.

Just to be clear i have zero problem with the actual fights announced. Ill happily sit and watch the shit out of the next few events and enjoy them to the fullest, lots of good match ups ahead. But all this here just seems nuts.

"at some point down the road"

sounds ominous. no way should Aldo or Edgar of agreed to it being for the interim. The UFC are still making fools of these guys, will thye never learn? Conor is laughing his ass off. Gets to mess with Aldo fight week without having to face him in the cage.

It's pathetic.
It looks like the UFC greased the wheels when it came to Frankie.

I seriously think he will, how would he do any better than last time?
I'm rooting and hope Nate finishes Conor again, but without any bias a part of me feels Conor can win a stick and move somewhat boring fight for 5 rounds. I do hope Conor fights emotional again and chases the K.O. then it could be dejavu all over again, if I recall not many fighters win a stand and trad3 with the Diaz bros.

I also thought UFC 200 would be more especial, not a bunch of rematches :/

You think Conor's ego will allow him to do the condit?

Great scrap under less than ideal circumstances. Aldo is one of my all times, so I'll be watching for sure.

The fw division is a cluster fuck with Conor fighting in other division and all that.

Aldo should have just stuck to a decent game plan against Conor. Could have avoided this cluster fuck entirely. Decided to go in chin first tho. Smh.

I have Aldo UD again tho.

stripping is the most logical idea after failing to win in a higher weight class vs a legit LW in Nate. He should've been forced to defend he's FW belt. Not another fight for a non title fight. Now the FW belt won't be defended probably for another 3-8 months. It's pathetic how people can make excuses for Conor and the severe nut hugging by the Zuffa is out of control.
I dont think you understand. If conor decides to walk away from FW division today, all the fighters down there will be fighting for a fake belt. They train their asses off to be called #1 at 145, not #2. The FW belt wont mean as much if conor is not defending it. No one considers Daniel Cormier to be the best light heavyweight fighter at the moment. Waiting another 3-8 months is better than stripping conor and risking him never going down to 145 again.

Smart Dana having the 2 Baddest fighters in the division battle it out for shot at 1 contender spot w/interm belt ,instead of conor fighting both top competitors. Conor doesn't even have to fight up through the top contenders to eventually get a title shot like everyone else. The only reason he fought chad Mendes is bc Aldo got hurt.I want to see conor defend his belt against the best in his division. I want to especially see conor vs Edgar, then conor vs Aldo 2.bc I know it was Fluke

I think you don't understand, if Conor leaves the FW he fought Mendes (2 week notice). Didn't sound like he wanted any part of Edgar after he lost to Nate, instead hinted at wanting a rematch vs Aldo who he already beat soundly and is a Legit win. Conor has not proven to be the best FW in his division yet, cause he hasn't defended it yet. Conor is the FW champ and is better than Aldo, but needs to deffend the belt multiple times to prove he is the best FW without question. Not only that but a lot If Conors fights are circumstantial match making(except the Aldo fight). They went with Nate over Khabib shocking huh? Could've gone with Edgar at UFC 189, but chose to go fight Mendes who was doing some hunting at the time.

I consider DC the legit champ, last time I checked UFC.com DC has the real belt and not interim. We can make a bet right now and I can prove DC is the legit champ. If your viewing from nuthuggin point of view than could be different.

If Conor moves up and leaves the FW just proved he was better than Aldo. Showed minimal to no interest in fighting Edgar after being called out by him. he's blind fans also believes beating 2 week Mendes holds a lot of value, cause you can ask any pro fighters and no legit fighter would take 2 week camp over an 6-8 week camp or there is no evidence suggesting a 2 week camp is better than 6-8week camp. Again I view Conor objectively not from some nuthuggin glasses point of view.

Nobody is nuthugging here. This is about the FW fighters and what they deserve. Obviously DC is the legit champ. But he hasn't yet proven to be the better fighter than Jones. And that's what matters.

You said Conor should be stripped right now. That doesnt make sense. Edgar and Aldo want to fight conor cause he's the #1 FW. They are fighting each other at UFC 200 because they hope to win and get the chance to fight conor. NO ONE in the FW division would be happy if Conor vacated the belt right now cause that's going to put a small asterisk on the belt for the future.

Everything else you said is recapping what happened with conor in 2015. Thanks but I know what happened. This is about the top FW fighters and them getting a chance to fight for the real belt, not a belt with an asterisk on it. Don't you think they should get a chance to truly become best FW when they are training their asses off? Hope you understand my point this time.

this is what you said: "No one considers DanielCormier to be the best light heavyweight fighter at the moment"

me: can prove you wrong, so don't be this guy...

an asterisk is Conor beating Mendes with a 2 week camp. Didn't somebody say along the lines, "i will defend both belts and I will be a busy champion"??

it does make sense to strip Conor, cause of he wins then what?? Conor vs Diaz 3. He said he would defend the belt in 2 divison now he ain't doing what he said and is putting the FW division in hold. Conor is ducking Edgar, he probably told Dana to make Aldo/Edgar 2 so Conor fights Aldo and avoids Edgar.

come on at least view your boy Conor objectively and not with tunnel vision...

It was reported that the winner would "at some point down the road" get the chance to unify the belt against McGregor
it's sad that the sport has been held to ransome by an oversized 145 lbs person who is too small to handle anyone outside the 145 lbs division.......

What a strange state the FW division has become.

In 2011 Jose defends the FW title for the fIrst time in the UFC. Over the next 4 years or so he defends it against great fighters like Florian, Mendes and Edgar and yet the division doesn't really gain the interest one would expect even though Jose is considered one of the best ever.

Along comes Conor who breaths some life into the division with his fan friendly style and talk. He gets a title shot from beating #9 Siver, wins the interim belt by beating short notice Mendes then KOs the real champ in seconds.

Then he gets to go up to 155 for another title shot before ever defending his FW strap leaving the top contenders waiting even though we were told this wouldnt happen. This fight of course ends up being another short notice fight which he loses pretty badly and gives hope to seeing him go back to 145 and fight there but.....

So now he gets to rematch a guy who he just lost to in very convincing fashion months later while the two top contenders in the division he holds a belt in duke it out for an interim belt? Why?

What the fucks going on here? This feels like they have handed Conor one of those choose your own adventure books I read in elementary school, shits ridiculous.
