Doc, with respect, that quote is fucking retarded, not profound. The issue isn't having a part of the military that is designed to perform some of the specialised functions of the current marine corp, it's having a separate 'marine' branch that performs many functions that have nothing to do with those original purposes and which could easily be subsumed into the traditional branches. If the marine corp has better trainers and troop standards, you can just use those trainers and set higher standards in the army and navy.
There are far more efficient and productive ways to do jobs programs.
