I am making some right now, 1st batch on the new machine

Bananas
Apples
Mandarin Orange Slices
Avocado Slices

Lady been talking about getting one for 5 years, now we have one.

Gonna be fun experimenting with stuff

We harvest hundreds of pounds of fruit each year so those will all be experimented with, and we also have backyard chickens so we will try eggs(cooked and uncooked)

The possibilities are endless...

Which pump did you get, if oil make sure you are keeping up on the oil maintenance
Oil, and yes it will be maintained well.
I think they are all coming with the advanced pumps that use oil now.

Sounds like you have some experience with this type of thing.

I was just thinking how useless this must be for most people, then I read this. Makes a lot more sense

I feel like I remember you, or someone, asking about one of these a couple years ago
Yep, been talking about it for years.
Costco carried the small version and I am tired of talking about it so now we are doing the damn thing.

My lady needs projects at all times to remain sane, so this thing will get used often.

I guess it is good for cannabis as well so I will try that, can dry/cure buds in 2 days instead of 2 weeks.

Can't stand the texture of anything freeze-dried. Like munching on chalk. But a way to store something that you're going to later reconstitute, looks handy. All the prepper hoes on Youtube are showing them off.

I actually love how some stuff tastes and the texture. Strawberries are amazing.

Some stuff does need to reconstitute or it just ain't right.

How do you "store"?
Can or dry hanging in a corner?
Much goes into salsa(grilled salsa and fresh salsa), which is canned.
Lot of peppers gets fire roasted on the grill then dehydrated and put in a Jar or a vacuum pack bag.
We cut a lot of jalapeños and sweet peppers fresh into diced size and freeze them in bags to throw into stuff.

Can't really hang things in the corner here unless you control the environment with dehumidifier/heater, I am 50 miles from the Pacific so that wet air rolls inland each night then retreats during the day most mornings in fall(big humidity swings each day). Peppers do love the summer here though, yield can be overwhelming.

Dehydrated peppers sounds interesting, I've never had any.

What I've seen people do is just literally needle and thread through the stalk stubs and hang em in a shady windy corner, then hang em in the kitchen as wall art/consumables lol.

I usually make way too much canned salsa with all of it, lol. I'm trying to think of other ways and also just canning tomatoes and peppers separately this year instead of making a whole production out of it.
Thinking about my garden this spring and what I want to do...

Totally works! Back when I was a guide I got so sick of the food when we were in the field (issues out of the medium secure juvenile detention center kitchen) that I went nuts and tried pretty much anything I could think of in my dehydrator and then got a budget for different week meal plans.

Peppers and onions are super easy and come back well. Or you can grind em up after and have some nice additions to the spice cabinet.

We do end up gifting a good amount of the salsa

I'm also looking forward to the spring and summer growing season

I was wondering if you could make your own seasonings this way.
