Build an imaginary platform from scratch that would make them competitive.

There's a lot of debate going on about whether the Democrats should move to the center move to further left.

Should they try to mimic Bill Clinton? Should they embrace the Bernie wing?

Read this today:
Opinion | Back to the Center, Democrats

It rejects the move to the left.

Funny enough though:

There are plenty of good issues Democrats should be championing. They need to reject socialist ideas and adopt an agenda of renewed growth, greater protection for American workers and a return to fiscal responsibility. While the old brick-and-mortar economy is being regulated to death, the new tech-driven economy has been given a pass to flout labor laws with unregulated, low-paying gig jobs, to concentrate vast profits and to decimate retailing. Rural areas have been left without adequate broadband and with shrinking opportunities. The opioid crisis has spiraled out of control, killing tens of thousands, while pardons have been given to so-called nonviolent drug offenders. Repairing and expanding infrastructure, a classic Democratic issue, has been hijacked by President Trump — meaning Democrats have a chance to reach across the aisle to show they understand that voters like bipartisanship.

Immigration is also ripe for a solution from the center. Washington should restore the sanctity of America’s borders, create a path to work permits and possibly citizenship, and give up on both building walls and defending sanctuary cities. On trade, Democrats should recognize that they can no longer simultaneously try to be the free-trade party and speak for the working class. They need to support fair trade and oppose manufacturing plants’ moving jobs overseas, by imposing new taxes on such transfers while allowing repatriation of foreign profits. And the party seems to have forgotten that community policing combined with hiring more police officers worked in the ’90s — and it will work again today. It can’t be the party that failed to stop the rising murder rates in cities like Chicago.
I actually agree with all of that. But all of that is being claimed by Trump right now.

So what exactly are the Democrats to do?

Start with getting a candidate with some integrity. Hilbot was a degenerate piece of shit with a paper mâché facade that fell apart as the election ran on. I like Bernie and would've loved to see him run against Trump but I think his socialistic ideas are too radical for the general public to get behind.

Find a close to centre politician within or outside the party who has the core democratic beliefs, who would be a good president, who isn't a plastic puppet of the party and get behind them in a big way.

The American people will give dems another chance if they deserve it but if they carry on ad naseum they will tank once again.

All they had to do was nominate someone not hillary and they would have won the last election. Since they have doubled down on the pelosi shit they are doomed to have trump reelected. No amount of liberal teara will affect us that actually vote.

They're doubling down on the Clinton stuff, and that would be a no, all over again.
You've got to be fucking kidding me. She lost to Obama then she lost to Trump. she's old as fuck and blames her losses on everyone but herself.

Move the fuck on.

The Democratic Party needs to say they will big a bigger wall, say they will grab all the pussy, call all women fat, twitter all day every day, and generally say more crazy bs that the voters seem to care react to.
The Democrats seem to think people vote with their brains when in reality people seem to vote on emotions.

Continue covertly demonizing white people, continue dressing immigration as a racial issue, continue promising free healthcare, free food stamps, free college, free everything.
I think by just continuing to divide and mislabel issues, the immigrant vote, color vote, cucks, youth, & women will vote for the "quick fix" and socialism.
The only reason Trump won was that he's a strategist & knows how to surround himself with such.
The dems don't really have to change much, maybe go more left and pick an establishment person who is healthy. Maybe a gay person that aligns with Sanders' views.

By getting back to its core values - progressivism, pro workers unions, betterment of the everyday worker that the Republican Party gives zero fucks about, higher tax rates on the highest earners, and social equality among people of ALL members of society, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

This is but a small bump in the road. We WILL take our country back from the thieves who seized power only after relying on interference from our greatest enemy.

Do you really think that the Democratic party has not been saying those things?

That's an unfortunate copout. Is this like when you said rainbows were cyberbullying?

This is meant to be somewhat serious thread and if you can support or gather real ideas for a plan forward, you might not have to relive the pain of November 2016.

Well that's not true. Trump 2020 is inevitable

Using "white male" as a pejorative sure does make it easy for me to reject the left.

Reminds me of this Democrat move

Op-Ed: California may have just boosted Trump's chances of winning in 2020

The common man simply hasn't figured this out mathematically.
If I was Mexican I'd come to America, try to better myself and family. I can't blame anyone anywhere in the world who crosses an arbitrary line.
But, we live in a nation, one with power and law. And it will disintegrate by not enforcing law.
People get caught up in de-humanizing Russia, how much less would the left be concerned with their vetting if they had different color skin?
The irony of this historic social experiment is that more or less, the parallel is found in Hitler's policies in WW2, which the left simultaneously seems to condemn and support. It's both a fascinating study and tragic occurrence.
I think this is how the term "they've lost their minds" came to be.
Not that they're crazy, just that their minds belong to someone else.

Buttram AIDS into everyone so they cry for universal healthcare.
Do you think that universal healthcare will be enough of an issue on its own to pull the Democrats into a leading position?

Or put this another way, if Obamacare was never run through, do you think things could have got bad enough during the economic downturn to see acceptance of a single-payer system?

People didn't want to vote for Hillary. If they had a more likeable candidate, they would have won.

Additional ideas:
* Obamacare is a cluster fuck. I like the socialised healthcare we have here but it's completely different.
* Give up on the gun control thing. The evidence is against them and it's constitutionally protected.
* Drop the SJW bollocks. There are anti discrimination policies in place, leave it at that.

So those are things to stop doing, cos they piss people off and don't offer much. What they SHOULD be campaigning on is:
* Keeping minimum wage in line with the rest of the western world. Not this $15/hr nonsense but raising it sensibly.
* Highlighting that illegal immigration has been reducing and they will continue to reduce it.
* Regulating universities to keep their fees reasonable so that more people from working class backgrounds can afford higher education.
* Regulating the broken health insurance system so that you (or your employer) aren't paying a third of your salary in premiums.
* Reducing the insane level of military spending to invest back into the people. More money for schools, emergency services and possibly subsidising your healthcare system. This would be a tough sell, so it would have to be marketed properly.

Run on medicare for all.

A new anti-imperialism foreign policy.

Removal of military bases from Europe, Japan, maybe some other places.

Scrap the ageing land based nuclear deterrent and move to completely sub based system.

A massive infrastructure spending plan to fix roads across the country.

Increased social security for the poorest in society, paid for through increased taxes on the top 1%.

Free college tuition option.

Legalise Marijuana.

Package it as a new deal like FDR. Look to appeal to non-voters on the left, republicans already vote republican no point in trying to win them over. Win with a 60% landslide.

So maybe now is the right time for Cory Booker to run.
