Really? I thought that movie was a complete mess and vanity project that must have been released to intentionally lose money.

Its very Johnny Depp, beautiful visuals and a story that doesn't make sense lol.
Makes a ton of sense to me, enjoyed it

Great Cast and Look to it IMO

I assume you saw it?

7.5/10 for me

Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it. It 100% felt like the Bob Dylan western that also sucked balls.

Friend of a friend was the animal wrangler for the lone ranger movie.
Depp got paid to come to location 3 weeks early to "learn" to ride.
He didn't come out of his trailer unless he ran out of "supplies", just got fucked up and played guitar for the entire time lol. The rest of the actors rode every day....

He kept assuring everyone that he knew how to ride, he was a professional, don't worry about it.

The first day of shooting a scene with a horse it immediately fell apart. He was obviously scared of the animals but was trying to play it cool. Had to have a special step stool to mount up (not that uncommon but still funny, he's a little fella.

Scene is set, actors and crew set, $50/hr chickens and p8gs are exactly where they're supposed to be...

ACTION!
And nothing happens.
OK, EVERYONE RESET! YOU GOOD JOHNNY?

ACTION!
Again nothing..

After more shenanigans Depp announces that the wrangler needs to get a more professional horse, this one's a terrible actor.

He legit thought that the horse had been trained to do all the "stuff", that all he had to do was stay on.

Watch that movie again, now that you know it becomes comically obvious that he isn't actually riding a horse at any point. Its hilarious.

Overall I think Depp is a great actor, but he's a ridiculous person.

I didn't like that movie much, and the Dylan one sucks.

Dead Man spoiler below don't click if you want to go into the movie clean
You might like Dead Man on a rewatch
I enjoyed the black and white film
Cast is insane and the characters are funny

Plot to me is that he died either before the opening scene on the train(Crispin glover tells him exactly that), or when he got shot after banging that woman in one of the early scenes, Entire movie is his journey to the afterlife. Depp was great in his role as a lost man on an unintended journey. Bit of a fight club twist is what I see it as, the movie is literally about an already dead man.

When viewed thru that context a lot of it did make sense and was interesting

I do get that the black and white and focus on cinematography and beautiful settings are the hallmarks of an indulgent film. Not sure if it made money or not, it is a bit slow so that doesn't help
