Stereotypes exist for a reason.
Well that statement is just as bad as the one you are whining about. I know for a fact you haven't met everyone in China, and I'm pretty sure that chick from house of flying daggers is hotter than any Korean I ever saw too.

The statement I'm whining about is by calling someone Chinese, they're associating you with all bad aspects of China and there are a ton.
Well then you should have told her about it. At least cuss her out in gibberish or something to scare her. And again you are painting one of the world's largest nation's with one brush, while at the same time complaining about stereotypes.
Next time an old lady is mean to you, do a hip toss on her, and tell her that's from Japan and you aren't from there either

Whoa wait. I'm not painting anything. If someone calls you Chinese in an insulting way they are assuming bad stereotypes on to you.
So when the old lady said I was from China, That's what she meant.
In a separate matter, when I said that you Can't really blame them I meant that there are a ton of bad stuff about China. This isn't to say everyone but there is a ton of bad stuff about China. That's just a fact. There are poor human rights there. You have rich people treating poor people like garbage. How can you find that defendable?

That really goes against freedom of thought though. She's allowed to think bad stuff. For me to tell her otherwise would be me infringing on her rights.
The world's largest nation has alot of social problems that I don't want to be affiliated with. The social atmosphere of China effects the way people think, act and treat other things that I don't approve of.
Well that's not how I read it when you said it. I read it as a lady called you Chinese and you got mad because you think Chinese people are bad.
Stop talking about Chinese people.

She obviously dislike Chinese people and That's why she mocks them.
However Chinese people do have alot of unsavory character points and That's probably contributing to her ill thoughts.
You can pretend that we are all equal but social values do reflect on people and Mao's communism did terrible things to Chinese values.

Social mores affect people. China under communism really changed Chinese values for the worst.
They're probably just like the Chinese only even more poor.
Note -- I also get offended when people ask me if I am from North Korea.
Nobody wants to talk about China but you. And when you do it gets you in trouble.

While somebody might have Nuance understanding of cultural differences that allow them to take a contextual look at that person, other people do not.
Its a point of stupid egotistical Pride for one East Asian person to chastise a non east asian person for their inability to identify their ethnicity based on physicality... Again, since East Asians can't do it any better than anybody else in the world.
"You think we all look the same!!" To everybody except the supercomputer...yeah sort of.
Turns out Asians have a difficult time noticing significant differences in various white people. Again, this is very similar to asking some Asian is somebody had a German look.
