My parents and brother, wife and kids all rolled out last night at 5:00 pm as they live in tampa.......headed to Alabama and all safe for now.

The storm surge on the west coast is going to be disastrous.
my girl kept asking last night and I acted like I knew but I keep getting curious: will these reporters stay right there in the middle of the storms and winds? are they the only ones out?

I think they eventually retreat to a safe hotel. Last year our local news kept reporting from the hotel.

Birds typically fly away. Squirrels stay. The ones with nests inside trees are typically ok, while the ones without have to find a strong tree and gold on for dear life.Do birds know to fly away ahead of time? What avout the squirrels?
In neither of the other two hurricanes I exoerienced do I remember seeing squirrel carcasses on the ground, so I'm sure evolution has given them a strategy to deal with hurricanes.

Northern hemisphere hurricanes spin counter clockwise.
Southern hemisphere hurricanes spin clockwise.
Typhoons, hurricanes, and tropical cyclones are all the same thing, the name just changes depending on the region. Typhoons are in the northern hemisphere, so they spin counter clockwise just like Atlantic hurricanes.
When does the looting usually start?
