From Key West (furthest point) to Key Largo (closest to mainland), the drive is a two-lane road. It normally takes 3 hours to drive, though I imagine it's at least double that time now.

South Florida is a mixed bag. There are neighborhoods you can leave your doors unlocked at all times of the day and there are neighborhoods you can't walk through in broad daylight.

I grew up lower middle class with a redneck father who didn't care for guns, despite the fact that he'd grown up with them. He loved to fish but hated hunting.

My mom comes from a family of east coast liberals from Connecticut. Literally no one in my extended family owned a gun when I was growing up as far as I know.

My younger brother has two young kids and owns a few different handguns as well as an assault rifle.

I've been to the shooting range a few times. I actually planned to get my CCWP for the "just in case shit happens" scenarios, but I've been too lazy to disrupt my weekend to take the 4-hour class.

Nah, they are all dry.
Besides, they are call covered with enough CLP to make the Exxon Valdez look like a non-event.

I still have some CLP in a little bottle from deployment in 2004. I use Hoppe's for all my gun care needs.

Gonna hunker down at home with plywood over my windows. I'll probably have to sleep at work again.

You bros (and Kat) be safe down there.

When I got gas earlier there were two cars in line ahead of me. When I left there were five cars behind me.

I filled my tank but the pumps were maybe half as quick as usual. Idk if that means they're running out or if the pumps slow down when all of them are being used at the same time, but it's a pretty good idea to get gas ASAP if you live in South Florida.

Water is hard to find.

It happens when a lot of people get it at once. This is also causing the "shortage" because stations can't refill the tanks fast enough. If everyone got gas like normal, it wouldn't be an issue. Same shit happened in Texas and there was more ham enough gas, just everyone flooding stations at once.

Just gassed up all the cars. We also have an F250 that no one really drives so we filled it up just in case.

Got 5 empty 5 gallon water jugs from work to fill with tap water just to have some extra capacity.

We usually fill the tubs so we have water to flush the toilets but the pool is 22000 gallons so that can serve as flush water too.

I don't have a generator so if power goes out we just cook all the meat in the freezer with charcoal.
