Also saw Santana play with Buddy Guy @ Bluesfest. Best free show ever. I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so I just went alone and found a spot.
On the way to the train station, ran into a bunch of people I knew. By the time we were on the train, there was palatable violence in the air. You know when some shit is about to go down. You can feel it. All it took was for one guy to ask some of us to quiet down.
Shit got out of control really fast.
Several of us spent the night in holding cells.
Years later, in rehab, some guy brought up the story as he was a conductor on the train that night. As he his telling his story I start laughing, and the counselor asks me what's funny about this, and I was just like "Yep, I was one of them."
