"Involuntary manslaughter"?
Nah.
Point gun, pull trigger = murder. You can argue not 'pre-meditated', ... but not involuntary. Otherwise every murder could use your same argument of "I don't think he meant to do it"...
Cops need to be help MORE accountable for killing, not less. Especially becasue they are (or should be) trained to know better.
When they start getting found guilty and sentenced to death for it, then these incidents will suddenly be scarce.
Fair enough. I can see 2nd degree.
But again - We don't know what happened before he pulled the trigger. The Minnesota video didn't start until after the guy was shot. But judging by the cops reaction - I think he knows he fucked up. My assumption is he panicked.
I think the cops need to change how they are trained. Be less aggressive. Focus on deescalating situations instead of using force.
But at the same time....
The confrontational nature against cops needs to stop. Just comply. I wouldn't even think about getting lippy with a cop or resisting arrest. It's just dumb - and it's what drives 99% of the controversial shootings.
The blame goes both ways.
Note : Not talking about the Minnesota incident. We haven't seen what happened leading up to that tragic shooting yet.
