I decided to check that, and it turns out that Letitia Wright didn't try to "distance herself from her own movie", she tried to distance herself from people using the movie to push divisive politics.

"It's a shame to see small pockets of discourse online take a divisive political turn. This story isn't about politics, it's about children," Wright said in a statement in part. She continued to say that "any conversation that detracts from that is unnecessary and harmful."
The person who wrote that tweet then decided to twist her words in order to push - you guessed it - divisive politics.
This is why people need to stop relying on fucking Twitter as a news source. Move along, nothing to see here.
