Yeah, he pretty much did everything they asked him to, but they never really knew what to do with him. I mean the JBL stuff had me wondering if they were trying to bury him.
I heard even Taker praised him backstage for taking anything he was given & doing anything he could to make it work or get it over.

And the dude was given a giant pile of fuck all multiple times.

Is it standard for them to announce the releases when they still have weeks on their contracts? I guess that's the WWE version of a severance package? Just let you take the last couple months of your contract off.

I think pretty much anything can be "standard" with WWE.

I mean, Corbin was in a tag team with Breaker in NXT, they both get called up to main roster, they get split up, Breakker gets his single run, Corbing gets (I think) one match back on main roster (that he loses), nothing since, then gets relesaed.

They weren't released, they aren't being renewed. Not the same thing at all.

As far as I'm aware WWE hasn't announced anything. Corbin came public with not being renewed, dirt sheets announced the other two. I expect Corbin will be back, possibly Hartwell as well.

Also - I really can't stand Baron Corbin.

I don't like his current NXT gimimck. I didn't like his GM gimmick. I didn't like the lottery winner gimmick. He should NOT have been the guy to "retire" Kurt Angle.

I've not liked anything about or from him since his original NXT "lone wolf" gimmick & run.

THAT SAID

If you listen to pretty much ANYTHING said behind the scenes, he's super easy to get along with, does EVERYTHING he's told, and goes above & beyond to get any & every dipshit gimmick they give him over...no matter how fucktarded it is.

He's (again, as I understand), the epitome of a "company man".

And it got him future endeavored.

Fuck off WWE.
So they should just keep everyone that does what they're paid to do?

Ultimately WWE needs to see you making them money, they don't see it with him so they're letting him go. We know that WWE will sign anyone back if they make themselves appealing. If I'm Corbin I'm already talking to TK, and planning my new image that will get me back to the WWE.

Problem is the biggest reason Corbin didn't make them money is because he WAS a company guy and did exactly what he was told.

How many stories have you heard of people rejecting ideas, stories, gimmicks, or whatever else backstage? And I don't mean top talent - even mid-carders do that.

Corbin was a company man, took every dipshit idea they gave him (and they gave him a LOT) and ran with it as far as he could & did what he could to make it work.

When you continually give a guy SHIT gimmicks & stories, then can him because they don't get over, you're fucking him both directions.

No. Corbin didn't make them money because outside of the protected NXT environment he's a charisma vacuum.

Omega announced at a show in Japan he wants to return on January 5th at the AEW/NJPW show. Got into a backstage scuffle with Gabe Kidd.

Is it possible corbin was making a lot of money relative to where he was on the card due to his pro football career prior? Maybe that didnt help him

Yup, and he could've been getting main show money for NXT work as well, and the juice may not have been worth the squeeze at that point.

I
Was reading Dustin Rhodes contract expired, but he's still got belts?
TK must trust the hell out of him. Dustin seems like a true old school man of his word that will do the right thing if asked.

Yeah, I guess they are still negotiating with him, but gotta think he's getting counter offers. With Cody as over as he is in WWE, I'd think there are stories there that he could do to round out his career.

But maybe he's better with doing his own "story" to finish things off.

Malakai Black jobbing clean to Cole was an expected travesty.
HoB is so misused. You have a "mystical & spooky" faction and you make them mid-card jobbers. That just doesn't work. That's not scary. They can be mid-card monsters, but not jobbers.

Malakai Black via IG on his AEW contract status and future:

“I'm not injured, nor am I retiring or am I leaving. I haven't been in injured in more than 3 years. I've been fine for the longest time.”

I was in Japan all last week for work. Saw Omega on tv giving an interview but obviously couldn’t understand a damn thing.

The fact that TK is giving tv time and a pre- PPV show match vs QT Marshall to the Costco guy when he has 150+ actual wrestlers is awful. Best angle would be if Christian takes out the dad and starts doing scenes in Costco with the kid.

WTF is a Costco guy? Like the CEO or something? Is it a sponsorship thing?
He and his son do these stupid videos about how great Costco and the food are. They were on AEW for an appearance maybe a month ago? Next thing you know it was mentioned that the dad had done some indy pro wrestling years ago. Have no clue how it came to be that the dad is having a match with QT Marshall on the PPV pre show.

So they're like the Costco Ho gimmick?

Arena looking pretty empty.

Also, who's the Golden Corral patron that they added to the preshow panel?
