I think Aldo takes it. Conor hasn't faced anyone on this level yet, so you can almost dismiss how he's looked against guys Aldo is clearly superior to. I think Mendes has the best chance.

No.5 isn't a contender? I strongly disagree, especially in a division with a dominant champ that has beaten every other guy in the top 5.
Ah c'mon dude. He's as much of a contender as anyone not named Mendes or Edgar. I see why they're giving him the shot now.
1) They need him. Mega star in Ireland, becoming a mega star everywhere. They need the ratings and he brings them.
2) He's finished 4 of his 5 fights in pretty convincing fashion
3) Edgar and Mendes have both fought Aldo
I'm unbiased as it gets, and I think it makes sense.
Word. If you strip away all the talk, promotion, hype, etc and just focus on his fighting performances, it's pretty damn obvious he is one of the top 5 145ers in the world. The negative emotional response he generates in people seems to blind them from the fact that he is a killer in the cage.

Great points here and by I Wild Each It. Right now, Frankie is the only guy who has an argument to be getting the shot over Conor. Otherwise, you have Mendes who is 0-2 against the champ and is only one fight removed from the decision loss. You have Lamas who was just made to look like an amateur versus Mendes. Cub had the crap beat out of him by Frankie.
Does anybody think Bermudez or Lentz have more legit claims to the title shot? C'mon now. This is a totally legit title fight.
