It was not.

R1 Khabib 10-9
R2 Khabib 10-8
R3 Conor 10-9

I have no idea why people act like Khabib won every second of that fight. MMA fans have to be the most uneducated and uninformed bunch of any large sport ever.

In the rematch khabib will destroy him. The spectacle has gone. He knows Connor has nothing for him and would make an example of him. It would be grotesque.

I'll watch

He's in the driver's seat like Nate was. And he'll get a big payday like Nate did.

And Khabib loses the rematch like Nate did as well.

Luke Rockhold gossiping like a teenage girl lol.

The superior athlete isn't always the A-side. Khabib needs to understand his place at the table, his previous ppv did 350k. Khabib needs to use his leverage to dictate where/when the fight takes places. A rematch in Russia is where the legacy money is.

But if a requirement is his check surpasses McGregor's - negotiations are over before they even started.

He passes on a rematch with McGregor ... How many buys, and what's that check look like, with a Nurmagomedov/Ferguson title fight?

Yes but look at it this way...

They are positioning to negotiate from a position of power. Its basic negotiation 101

He isnt going to say "Well we are the B side so we will take what we can get"

I disagree with your scoring
That's actually pretty accurate scoring. Khabib was out struck in the third. Conor didn't land anything significant, but he did score more. And while Khabib tired Conor out attempting his takedowns in the third, he didn't get any in the round.

You're right but they should be using more than basic 101 negotiation tactics.

When the huffing and puffing is over - it'll still be Team McGregor who decide terms. Posturing is one thing but delusional posturing will have Khabib back to headlining cards barely cracking 300k and making a quarter of what he made for 229.

I want Khabib to make a crazy amount of life changing money. But if they get crazy he could easily lose the paycheck of a lifetime. And I just don't ever see that type of purse ever coming back around for him without Conor.

would be interesting to see how Conor conducts himself if a rematch were to take place

Conor is still going to make more in a rematch, but Khabib is right to hold out for as much money as possible. He has the leverage now.
