I live in chch, pretty surreal feeling here about now.

As a community it feels much the same after the 2010/11 earthquakes. And that's probably a very similar feeling that goes for all kiwis.

If you've got any questions about what's happening on the ground or in the NZ media, ask away.
Kia kaha mate. Have nothing really to ask. Just sad all round.

Some knobs here like going on about people getting killed in Nigeria but I's never go there. Ive thought about living in NZ so this effects me a bit, not as much as you though I'm sure.

Yes, I remember there being complete consensus across the board that those people had it coming. Everyone was walking around with these T-Shirts. I can't remember what they said but I think it says 'Mashallah. Allahu Akbar. Fuck Charlie Hebdo.'

So the media was publishing the egregious artwork that cost this people their lives? Or was there a ridiculous gag order on it?

3 shot in Utrecht, heard speculation it could be retaliation.
heard speculation that it was related to Michele Obama's dietary restrictions.

also heard speculation that it was related to Heribert Illig's phantom time theory.

Black Power & Mongrel Mob are the two mainstays of NZ gang culture.

There is an undertone (edit - messaging from gangs - and there are examples) at the moment around “cleaning up things”. Be it meth, education, poverty and feeding underprivileged kids at school - whatever.
Might be PR, might not be. It’s irrelevant.

BP and the haka outside the Christchurch mosque is a sign of respect.

Mob standing guard outside the mosque in Hamilton on Friday coming is one as well.

For all of the good and bad, NZ is an awesome country. They’ve raised nearly $10m for the families of the victims.

Proud Kiwi here.

As someone who has been through it (Parkland) over time it will get better. I wish you guys well. It only takes one person with bad intentions to ruin the lives of many and effect millions. The best you can do is live a normal life while he suffers the rest of his miserable life. Don't try to make sense of it because there isn't any.

Turkish President declares open season on Australian tourists.

'They returned in caskets': Turkey's ANZAC warning for Australians

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invoked the history of Gallopoli to denounce the Australian shooter of two mosques in New Zealand.

Speaking at a campaign rally in the northern town of Eregli, Erdogan criticised New Zealand and Australia for sending troops to Turkey in the World War I Gallipoli campaign, claiming their motive was anti-Islam-oriented.

"What business did you have here? We had no issues with you, why did you come all the way over here?" Erdogan said. "The only reason: we're Muslim, and they're Christian."

Erdogan told supporters: "If New Zealand fails to hold the attacker accountable, one way or another we will hold him to account."

In inflammatory comments on Monday, Erdogan suggested that anyone who comes to Turkey with anti-Muslim sentiments would meet the same fate as ANZAC soldiers who died during the Gallipoli campaign.

"Your grandparents came here … and they returned in caskets," he said, the ABC reported. "Have no doubt we will send you back like your grandfathers."

He made the comments in Canakkale province, northwestern Turkey which is home to the historic battlefields, on the anniversary of a World War I Turkish naval victory.

Makes sense as a world religion.
