"When was the last time a No. 1 team lost to an unranked opponent?
The last time the highest-ranked team in the country fell to an unranked opponent was in 2021, when Texas A&M defeated Alabama, 41-38."

Every team except Alabama faces criticism whenever they fall short, but Alabama always seems to get a pass.

The last time they won both their conference and a national title in a non-COVID season was 2015. In fact, the last two times the No. 1 team in the country lost to an unranked opponent, it was Alabama both times.

If this had happened to teams like Georgia, Ohio State, or Clemson, it would be a constant talking point.

It’s lingering effects of the Saban ethos. Will slowly wear off now that he’s gone.

Saban had all the media scared to death. Times have and will continue to change. They're not done but they're definitely not the same.
