Just saw this ad for what I guess is a touring show:
Brendan Schaub is LIVE in this one man show "The Big Brown Breakdown" brings comedy, UFC and everything in between.
TIckets are $36. WTF?

He's sold out every show he's booked. Just got back from a tour in Australia. Gonna be on Comedy Central in October.

I have not, but I have heard multiple comics talk about actually being impressed by him, which is rare because comics are usually the last people to give a guy who jumped in in his 30's with no experience props.
Being nice as he has some sort of name recognition and they want in. That or they don't want to get KOd.

You clearly don't know comedians. He's in their world. They aren't nice because someone's famous. If anything, they get more brutal.

The negative bummer speculation on this site is rampant today. Bums me out.

TO be fair you do not talk crap on any of Rogans Made Men...that could have a lot to do with his treatment...and his imposing size and fight skill

Clearly... Can you share your experiences with the comedian community here please? Not being sarcastic.

Also this isn't some negative speculation (not sure why you pointed out this site specifically). I've tried many times to find humour in Schaub but as we both know humour is subjective. Personally I don't care how booked his shows get I can't even muster up a smile when listening.

I was a stand up for years. Stopped due to chronic health problems. Performed for money in numerous places around California. I wasn't a headlining act or anything because that takes quite a bit of time but I know my way around the business, and more importantly I know comedians.

There's a difference between talking crap and going out of your way to compliment. They don't have to talk crap to not say nice things. It's easy to abstain. Comics don't give credit when it's not due, generally.

You don't think there's a chance that having a new guy with a bigger name than the up and comers gets a bit preferable treatment knowing he's in good with Rogan and Callen?

Don't get me wrong I'm happy to see him or anyone have success after fighting but to be having his own show this early into his comedy career doesn't seem normal. This feels like when some fighters were happy to be on Phil Brooks UFC debut.

The comedy store is sold out every night no matter if Schaub is performing or not, so that's the difference between this and Brooks. Doesn't really bring more eyes.

I'm telling you- comics don't treat guys who haven't paid their dues nicely. Doesn't matter who they know. In fact, knowing somebody and getting spots because of that puts an even bigger target on your back. Schaub got a lot of shit at first. I'm still it exists but guys I respect have endorsed him. I'm not saying he's Chappelle but I think he's doing better than I expected him to.

Interesting...

My main criticism towards Brendan is it seems once he gets a decent reaction after a joke or whatever he latches on quickly and will milk it super dry asap. Ive had to turn off his podcasts for hearing things like "honey dicked" and "real quick..." 100+ times to setup another unfunny punchline. Just not my style I guess.

Curious to see how far he goes. I bet given the opportunity most people would choose to fight in a cage than tell jokes in front of a group of strangers.

Exactly what I was going to say
The comics that are saying they're impressed are generally the death squad crew and other friends of Rogans.
Even comics that aren't friends with Joe hardly talk shit about joe or his crew these days because it will destroy their fucking career

I'm not saying Schaub isn't good, he may be... but you do not talk shit about one of rogans boys in comedy
