As an army member I've got so many air force jokes right now.
What do you call it when somebody paints an entire group of people based on the actions of a few? The atrocious behaviour at the borders is just that but you should realize the team you now want to support is looking like they want to wipe out whoever gets in their way regardless of what they look like.
More blame to the people preventing specific groups from fleeing then it is on the ones causing the damage. I don’t understand.

I’m still reading up on their history but I’m under the impression they don’t represent anywhere near the majority of the country. Like at all.

Its a long history and I don't expect you to feel sympathy. But you are just scratching the very surface of why they are there and how influential they are systematically. Also if they are being marginalized or not and who is trying to marginalize those figures.
According to Wikipedia, the Ukranian military comprises 215,000 personnel.
I've seen it said that the Azov division comprises 600 troops, but i don't have a source for that.

So it turns out sharing images of POWs is a war crime… am I a war criminal now?
My only criticism is that nobody is doing the belly laugh pose of the big cossack in red with the white hat. I would have thought that was most obvious one to do.

You don't have a government sanctioned part of the military unless you have a reasonable amount of pull. It's only the last 3 or 4 weeks that their influence has become a debated point.

They got official status because they refused to surrender and fought on in 2014 when the Ukrainian army ran away. They have no “pull.”

They've gone from marching in something analogous to confederate kkk hybrid celebrations to being condemned by the president publicly and winning zero parliment seats.
Eastern Europe all the way to the Pacific ocean has a huge racism problem and Ukraine simply has a formalized apparatus due to their history. That piece will come back with destabilizing that is going on or continue to be marginalized at the request of NATO/EU as a prerequisite for membership if the recent democratic changes hold.
Ukrainian border guard - “If you’re coloured you’re not getting through without getting beat down” = Racism. Fully agree and intolerable.

At the very least, your situation would mean the government respected them and decided to recognize them.
