It's been said many times that the modern obsession with social media can be bad for your health.

This war is proving it.

Russia appears to be scaling back their ambitions, in order to find a way of selling this war to their people as some sort of "success".

From the article:

Russia's Defence Ministry has said it will focus on "complete liberation of Ukraine’s Donbass."

Details: Defence Ministry, quoted by RIA Novosti

According to the Ministry, "The combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been significantly reduced, which allows us to focus our main efforts on achieving the main goal - the liberation of Donbass.

Initially, we did not plan to storm them (blockaded Ukrainian cities - ed.) to prevent destruction and minimise losses among personnel and civilians.

Although we do not exclude such a possibility, as individual groups are carrying out the tasks assigned to them, and solving them successfully, our forces and resources will be concentrated on the main thing - the complete liberation of Donbass."

Life after sanctions for a Russian oligarch

His life changed overnight, he says with a snap of his fingers. “Our business is completely destroyed. Everything which we were building for 30 years is now completely ruined. And we have to somehow start a new life.” It is a life for which he may not be prepared. “Will l be allowed to have a cleaner, or a driver? I don’t drive a car . . . maybe my stepdaughter will drive. We don’t understand how to survive,” he says, speaking at a table laden with fruit and snacks in his London flat, with its double-height dining room.
