Was 112° today. Lost power at about 6:30. Daughter has had a fever since Friday. Nanny quit today with no explanation- wife and I work full time, and have another family in our nanny share. Wife's father had a biopsy of a mass on his liver. He has "innumerable" metastatic neoplasms on his lungs and brain as well. He's currently on morphine and hallucinating conversations with his mother who's been dead decades. He felt fine a month ago.

...so anyway, the weather is shitty.

We’re still at 104, but it looks like it’s coming down pretty quick. Supposed to be in the 80s by 9pm.
Heat got trapped up north in a "heat dome" according to local news sources

I hope you guys also get the marine air flow again soon and get that 55-60 degree evening again

Fuck you. J/k
It's still 74, and 76% humidity here. It's not even hot yet.
I'd have my windows open, if I were you.

They are open
I open them almost every night during summer

Are you a west coaster or is that some east coast/southern humidity?
South central Kentucky now. These hills like to hold onto humidity.
I came from Wisconsin though, so it's still torture, and I'm very jealous.

Ohh, that stuff is intense

I went to that type of climate 20 years ago

I went for a run and realized it was no place like home

Humidity is a huge reality check for me...Only humidity I am used to is when it is raining lol.
Not sure how humans deal with it.

That said we are gonna burn down and breath smoke for a month this year in many places

My pops is 20 miles from a fast moving fire near mount shasta valley, is getting prepared to bail if needed. It just started yesterday.

Damn dude, I hope all goes better than expected. That's the only plus to this weather.

It will be fine for most people and homes, but some areas will burn every year out here in the dry regions.
Low humidity, dry brush/trees, and a spark(lighting) equals fire, so yes that is the trade off.

Pops has a big camper on a dually truck ready to roll up or down I-5 as needed...odds are they will be just fine.

Low humidity can be an amazing climate to live in most of the time. It does come with a risk of fire and at the least a bit of smoky air each year. + West Coast politics are ridiculous haha

Seattle has gone from 2019 Snowpocalypse to 2020 COVID/BLM riots to 2021 Sunpocalypse with wildfire season about to kick off. What a wild couple of years.

I'm glad they're prepared, but I couldn't imagine losing my home like that.

One reason I started this thread was to remind myself that my local weather is just fine.

Well fortunately, so long as we all keep collectively doing absolutely nothing about climate change, these hot temperatures absolutely will not continue to get steadily worse.

Beautiful weather here. 59 degrees with a high of 70. Damn near perfect.

However, we had a 3.9 earthquake last night. I'm ready to go home (to tornado alley). Lol

Scary shit!

Here it's cold. Snow on the hills, and snow almost made it down to the city at sea level today. But it is the middle of winter, the only thing south of me is the southern ocean and then Antarctica, and the shortest day of the year was last week. So that's fair that it's cold, I guess.
