Now normally, I'd consider you one of the more level-headed fellas 'round these here parts, but you completely shit the bed on this one. My "LOL" is about the episode in general. Did you watch it? It was funny.
There wasn't any sarcasm in my post - save for what you perhaps imagined. My reference to the word is actually a continuation of a post about this board which I actually tagged Wild and Splinty in. And I was serious about that.
So any conclusion you came to or Sarcasm you detected came from the recesses of your mind. Or perhaps a hangover? It is Sunday day morning afterall, so that would be understandable.
In order to bypass your misunderstanding of my post, I recommend watching the entire episode. Here's a particularly funny. Skit from the same episode that might tickle your fancy:

It's all good. I guess I read you wrong on that one.

Bottom line, a very large % of our society is made up of entitled losers looking to place blame on someone for their miserable lives. Even pro athletes and actors.
Seriously, can't you just make an account called Wild and Crazy Guy for these posts?

My thing is I don't appreciate the way media on the left and right have used the disaster to score political points while people have lost literally everything. I have close friends with family in PR, VI, and Dominica. Before the storm even hit, media was saying "let's see if this is Trump's Katrina" which is some BS. When Florida made it through Irma, there was obvious disappointment and then when Maria came through PR, the media didn't give af. People on the islands pushed and pushed the media to talk about it but all attention was on North Korea and the NFL.

Then Trump waded in with his characteristic BS and continues to do so when as the leader of this country, he should just stfu. When people are dying and have lost everything, you stfu and let whoever take their shots. I've done disaster relief and I know it's hard and complicated work. For people with loved ones on the islands, the last thing they need to hear is a point scoring contest. Trump deserves whatever he gets at this point and the media who ignored it until he had something to say about it doesn't deserve much better. We are living in truly grotesque times with little decency and no empathy.

I agree with all of this.

Just thought you'd find some levity in that headline.

Anyone know the specifics of how early the Army could have legally taken over operations?

I know the general legal barriers to deploying them domestically, but not specifics on how to decide that exception.

The total move of management to the Federal General seems the best move so far.

Lots criticizing that we sent in Federal military to Haiti faster. But that's different with domestic deployment limitations.

Looking at job done and timeline, as best I can tell the only real thing that could be done different is the change of management to the US Army. So could that have been done earlier?

Still don't have an answer to this but seems there could have been a transition as much as 3 days earlier.

That's a pretty big gap and I can't find info on why that would be. Before and after operations are reasonable, but that's transition delay seems the crux on both ramping up support, but even more taking for the distribution logistics.

Looks like the federal response didn't prepare for essentially no local truckers and no local electricity. Those two things have exponentially changed the landscape.
Puerto Ricos entire power grid is basically being built from the ground up right now. Insane. Probably will be 6 months for it to all come back. Only 25% in a month!!

I heard that on the news this morning. They hope to have power fully restored by March of 2018.
What a nightmare.

I heard Trump is heading there today. He should bring that kid that can't cut grass - maybe he's able to hand out water bottles. We have to find something that kid is good at.

And that's exactly how NPR described it this morning "Trump mocked the Puerto Rico people saying they don't really need all this stuff, and then began throwing relief items into the crowd". They were hinting that he was being incredibly rude and showing zero tact given the circumstances.

You seriously can't believe anything anymore. Look at the video. It's pretty obvious he was joking around with them. People were laughing. Then he jokingly grabbed a can acting like he was going to throw that and everyone laughed.

I don't much like the guy, but I'm convinced there is nothing he can do that the media won't bust on him for. It's pretty sad.
