Integration is considered to be part of the new colonialism. Far as I remember the shift happened in the early 90s.
There's obviously some need to acknowledge existing culture lest you get Quebec 1995. But simultaneously that same example is a good reason to make sure all sides are pulled into the same unified national focus.

And yes I remain perplexed at integration becoming a bad word. The melting pot remains a higher level ideal to me than the salad bowl (look it up if you aren't aware of this subtle push).

I haven't heard "salad bowl" but in Canada we're taught that it's a "mosaic" showing off each culture. Really it creates horrible division as we take in immigrants (largely refugees) stuff them into ghettos and then don't do anything to encourage them to integrate. So even when those individuals manage to make their situations better they have no connection to the community. Seeing a man walk into a business and refused to be served by a woman is unsettling. But hey, "Diversity is our strength" "Build back better." and all that jazz.

the problem with the Melting Pot is that you lose Intersectionality, and have to exist in a Meritocracy.

same same

The strangeness of this is the obvious conclusion that either 1> Canadian culture doesn't exist 2> others are not really part of said Canadian culture but only representatives of other cultures.
Both seem hilariously exclusionary.

In an astonishing statement to the New York Times in 2015, Justin Trudeau declared, "There is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada,'' and consequently that "makes us the first post-national state."

Why does Trudeau hate people born in Canada so much?

I am 4 generations removed from my nearest German ancestor. Do I have my own have cultural value to America outside the context of parading the motherland for which I don't really have any link? That seems also hilariously empowering to white nationalist who use the same defunct argument to endorse heritage that they don't have any actual link.

Heyyyyyyyyy

Bro, do you even build back better? We just had a filibuster so questions about the hundreds of thousands of dollars JT and his family were taking illegally wouldn't be investigated. This place is headed to Hell in a handbasket.

No, no. Doesn't work that way. As someone of German ancestry that makes you white. The cultural history of white people begins with Columbus and ends whenever the last egregious thing happened to the Indians. Everything that's happened since is a direct result of your ill begotten gains. Only non-whites are encouraged to parade their culture. By the way, "white" is a sliding scale.

Lemme run through the timeline for you, quick smart.

Dude tweets.

Gets deleted, since it goes against "TOS"

He gets questioned. Claims "comedy" protections.

You know he, and his team are trying to remove the ability to parody, right?

I didn't say he spoke for all Muslims, but he is a little known Muslim who will also claim;

How's that integration going, with attitudes like this?

He's an idiot, but he isn't supporting killing the teacher. It's a shame you force me to give him any defense since I disagree with even his other positions.

I expect better, from you.

"A young Muslim man decided to take action"

He wrote a script. There are any number of terms available that would convey better condemnation, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut....

"As a rule of thumb..... You have absolutely no right to take justice into your (own) hands."

"However, "struggles to defend Islam" are permissible before his return"

Sorry, what?

Any Muslim can Jihad, if they want. It's in their faith. His refusal to condemn is complicity.

Click his video. He begins by stating he's against the killing and no one has the right to act outside the laws of france in France. You obey the laws of the land you are in.

Stop overplaying your hand on this guy so I can stop giving him any defense at all.

Which I disputed, via his faith. Which he seems rather serious about.

Do you believe him at face value? Because I don't. Maybe that's the difference.

In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most merciful.
From Abdullah, the servant of Allah, to Macron, the leader of the infidels, I executed one of your hellhounds who dared to belittle Muhammad, calm your fellows before we inflict you a severe punishment…

The teacher, in the scope of the official program of french education, had to present a “freedom of speech and thinking” course to his class.

He decided to use the Charlie Hebdo’s caricatures of Mahomet in this course. However, he allowed any (muslims) students who could be offended by those caricatures, to leave the class before he would show them.

It was the second year he used the caricatures, no incidents were reported last year.

However this year, a parent was offended to learn that the caricatures were shown in class. That parent decided to post a video on social media to condemn this act, while leaving the teacher’s real name and the address of the school where he was working for everyone to see.

Soon after, an 18 years old Chechen born in Moscow, Russia beheaded the teacher.

The teacher was advised not to do it. They should publicly behead the perp and his dad for raising an idiot and wasting taxpayer money. Some people get off being martyrs, so both the teacher and perp are one and the same... maybe.
