It isn't surprising that a law enforcement agency is trying to enforce the law. Of course they reached out to the platform owner for help. It helps them if the platform continues to chug on so they can continue to catch criminals. I'm all for them catching as many pedos and child traffickers as possible.

I'm not saying to give them the keys to the kingdom, but let/help them catch criminals.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if they really were after pedos and traffickers?!

From Serbian President Vucic?

I guess you could argue that the word used was “blocked” and not “banned”.
Maybe they "blocked" or "banned" it for Vucic or some govt agencies I don't know but normal people could use it whatever you could argue and whatever term you could use.

Are you trying to come across as the local Russia expert? Because I will straighten you out. It looks like you are full of shit, trying to seem impartial saying things like ok Ukraine's not perfect either or ok Musk would've been arrested as well, and then blurting out some outrageous horseshit like this. Are you anthonyMI?
No, I'm not a Russia expert. Technology, though, I know a little something about. I don't believe any of these messaging apps get to operate without making concessions to their intelligence communities. Not in the West, not in Russia. I don't even trust Signal.

If the horseshit you're referring to is Russia blocking Telegram:

Amnesty International was also making noises about it at the time:

I remember following the topic when it happened. Telegram worked around it rather easily, and all they accomplished was blocking a lot of unrelated services:

Durov moving to the company to the UAE and publicly refusing to cooperate made me think he was on the up and up back then. Then, seeing things like this:

I don't believe Durov would have stepped foot back in Russia unless they came to an arrangement. What has happened in France, would have happened to him in Russia if he honestly wasn't cooperating.

And no, I'm not anthonyMI. He seemed like a decent guy, though. You two butted heads a lot, I know.

Pavel Durov Deprived of Parental Rights in Switzerland

According to Irina Bolgar, the mother of his three children, she filed a lawsuit when Durov allegedly gave her an ultimatum to force her to move to the UAE. After that, he blocked access to cards and stopped paying bills.
