I’d like to apologize now if it sounds like I’m defending the guy. Not at all. We still have to come to terms with what he did and somehow reconcile that with losing a family member and while we have no sympathy for a man that does something like this, it’s easier said than done.

We feel the loss of not just him but everyone he killed and hurt more so because it was the actions of one of our own.

We have family scared and paranoid about potential retribution. Some are stricken with sadness at the loss of life a member of their family has caused. Others are confused and “dumbfounded” (as my FIL expressed on tv).

Family members on the west coast are having heart issues from the stress (legitimately).

Grandma (the shooters mom) is in her 90’s and is trying to cope with the fact that her son could do something like this.

The whole family has to live with the fact that the family name has now sunk to “most famous mass murderer in our history”

Sorry to unload but it’s all very heavy shit to deal with in the wake of the worst public massacres in our history.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but I haven't seen you say anything that you need to apologize for. You're good dude, I really appreciate you sharing in here. It's valuable to have your perspective on this.

I can't imagine what it's like for you and your family to process this. I feel for ya man, and I wish for you and your family to find some peace after this tragedy.

National Rifle Association pundit Antonia Okafor told Fox News on Wednesday that it was a mistake to discuss gun control following mass shootings because it encourages more massacres.

In an interview on Fox & Friends First, host Heather Childers asked Okafor to comment on the calls “for more gun control” following this week’s mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed 58 people.

Okafor began by expressing “heartfelt condolences to the victims,” but she insisted that Democrats talking about gun control after every mass shooting is “the definition of insanity.”

“Do you think they’re doing a disservice, that in fact they are actually accomplishing the opposite of what they’re trying to accomplish by bringing awareness to gun control?” Childers wondered.

According to Okafor, Democrats are “the problem” because they bring up gun safety laws following every mass shooting.

“We have Baltimore, we have Chicago, we have St. Louis, we have all these places that are ridden with violence,” the NRA pundit opined. “And we’ve implemented more and more gun control as the years have gone on. So, the policy is not working.”

Okafor concluded by finding a bright side to America’s epidemic of gun violence.

“One thing I love about — unfortunately — these tragedies that happen, the reaction from the American people coming together,” she explained. “And one thing I think we’re very good at is problem solving. And so I believe if we’re willing to change the direction that we’ve been in before… you know, we voted for President Trump because we wanted a difference.”

“I think it’s important that if we listen to our president, if we listen to the leadership and the advice that he has in the future going on forward that we can actually make change in this horrible circumstance so that this doesn’t happen in the future,” Okafor said.

Reports from people who were being shot at are not reliable. They're about the least reliable thing in an investigation.

Guys, the internet exists. We all have cameras. Zero second shooters were recorded. Also, if you're planning a conspiracy based on one guy why would you include a second shooter, which would make the odds that you're caught skyrocket astronomically? If they were going to shoot at a crowd with more than one person, they'd fake a second shooter. It's really simple. If this is a conspiracy, whoever did it is not that stupid.

Maybe just one shooter, on the 4th floor? And Lue's uncle was a very unfortunate pawn in something much darker than anyone can imagine. I hate to even go there, but by all accounts, Stephen Paddock wasn't someone who would own 50 guns, have 20 of them in a hotel room, and have the motive or capability to do something as heinous as this.

Sure, but my question had nothing to do with actual tactics in killing people. If you are going to lie to the American people in 2017 when everybody has a camera, and you're going to tell them that one shooter killed people from the 32nd floor of the building. It would be very stupid to put a second shooter on the 4th floor and just cross your fingers that nobody gets the video on a cell phone. That's what a lot of people miss with conspiracies- if the government is conspiring to do something like this, they don't make mistakes like that. They're actually good at this, and even I would know how dumb it would be to try to pull it off the way it's being presented in this thread.

I do agree that they should follow every lead into the possibility of two shooters, but I don't think we've seen any actual evidence of that yet.

The internet is a beautiful thing and a terrible thing. One of the terrible things is that civilians now play YouTube detective every time something like this happens. There's always going to be inconsistencies in chaos. The witnesses will always get it wrong, meaning the police will always have bad information throughout the night. I'm not saying this was done by one guy with no motive, I just think speculating on these things becomes a hobby quickly.

Eye witness account are not reliable but we also can not conclude that every single one of them in inaccurate
Example.
There were reports of seeing somebody with a gun in certain areas
It is possible that a person in las Vegas who had nothing to do with the shooting pulled their gun out for protection as they were leaving the area
Not saying that happened, but it's possible and would make a witness account correct yet still be leading us in the complete wrong direction

I saw one theory from that guy "John" that this is about selling security machines and services. But imo if it is a conspiracy, it could be about anything.

The people who run things in Vegas have all sorts of deals and stuff going - could have been mafia, real estate, cover-up of a couple of specific deaths, etc. There are so many angles to follow up on besides just terrorism. And if Stephen was the shooter and it wasn't about mental illness, it definitely could have been under duress.

But as many people have said, there is a good chance we'll never know, and people will be watching documentaries about conspiracy theories 50 years from now, like Lincoln and Kennedy.

I am a single individual with a single opinion, so that makes no sense.
I also have admittedly have little to no grasp of the facts pertaining to this event...so keep that in mind.

as for gun control happening in 3 years minimum?....I would think laws can be passed a lot faster than three years in an emergency situation.

Only thing I am 100% sure of is that firearm sales and ammunition sales are rising as we speak...Firearms company stocks are up and ruger sales were up 9% the day after the event.
One of the shootings many years ago depleted all assault rifles and ammo from stores...I sold a colt AR for twice its value and .223 rounds prices were at an all time high.
Gun hoarding and Ammo stockpiling just kicked into full gear again.

Again I am not throwing out any real theories. I saw two windows broken and a bunch of people shot...that is all I am certain of.
