“Commercial” fishing is a joke. Anyone can fish when there’s a pay check being dangled in your face. A real fisherman goes out there for the love of the game. Knowing full well chances are he’s coming home empty handed and his wife is going to call him a fruit.
Commercial fishing days are decades behind me now. Seen some record fish though. 300lb halibut, 200lb sturgeon. 6 gill sharks over 7' long.
15lb halibut or lingcod in shallow water give you a better fight. Those big guys tire out pretty quick.
I know you admire @conor mcgregor nut hugger and you use him as a yard stick to measure your worth. But you are Canadian and we call them 'cheques'
I have done lingcod from kayak...they pull me around a lil bit

Overrated imo. Cool to catch a big fish and all but the best eating are the smaller guys. Prefer sockeye and pink myself
