Big Dummy @Chugging Cody’s Cream you’re a hunter. Do you know anything about slingshots? I want to be able to bring down a Caribou from 200 yards.
Slingshots are ok, I guess - if you're 12 or just wanting to bruise an animal. But blowguns are a lot more fun. You can get set up with a .40 caliber blowgun and some darts for pretty cheap (under $50 here with lots of extra darts). I'd recommend the .625 caliber version, but you probably don't have enough lung power for that ;)

But seriously, get a blowgun. Super fun, and inexpensive. We used to play the dartboard game Cricket with our blowguns at like 25 feet. It's been a while, but I used to be able to shoot a moth on the wall with my sweet skillz.

Blowguns are sweet. My cousin used to send me pictures of all the mice he’d shoot in his shed. Fuckin’ things are accurate.

They're so much fun, especially for how cheap they are. It's been a while, but I had a phase where a few of us were shooting all the time and I got pretty accurate with it. Once you figure out how to really launch one with force, it's great. We'd play drinking games with a dartboard in my garage, and that really got us honed in with our aim.

I actually need to get a new one because I chopped mine down to 2 feet so my son could use it easier. I'd give him those plastic cylinder plugs so he could shoot safely (the wife wasn't too keen on cutting him loose with a bunch of metal arrow darts lol). I also got him like 10 boxes of snap pops, which just happen to be the right size to launch with a blowgun. He loves doing that!

The snap pop idea is awesome.
I remember having one in middle school and I tried to hit a fly on the ceiling of my bedroom and I put about a dozen tiny chips in the drywall. It was the last time I did that.

Get one with and arm rest. They help with consistency.

After googling slingshots I noticed they’re really pushing the envelope.
Look at this...

the fuckin’ Goldboy Professional.
On sale for 149.99. So, like 1200 Canadian.
Yeah. There are some complicated rigs, but I want one I can in my pocket while hiking.

Yo, don’t even trip, they have models that fold up and will fit in your pocket.
Get some ball bearings and marbles and you’ll be breakin’ hearts in no time.

@Lars has a blow gun. He dips the darts in rohypnol and hits the club.

Got damn Canada has gone soft

From wiki:
"In Canada, the blowgun is classified as a prohibited weapon and is defined as any device that "being a tube or pipe designed for the purpose of shooting arrows or darts by the breath".[12] Any imported blowgun must be deactivated by either drilling a hole or by blocking it."

Can you even buy them there? Readily available here.

If I shipped one across the border, would the RCMP come hunt me down? How long of a horseback ride is that? I should have tons (ok, tonnes) of time to escape!

The great outdoors that takes you back into “indoors”

this is about a 20’ deep shaft that goes down into a decent sized cave. It’s free climbable, but as I get older I’m getting less risk averse and we use the cable ladder now as an extra bit of safety. I’ve lost count, but I’ve been in this one more than 50 times over the years.

Lots of spiders. Blind ones that are cave-adapted. Also beetles, frogs/toads, millipedes, scorpions, snakes, random mammals like raccoons and mice, and all kinds of other invertebrates.

Spotted some Inkcap Mushrooms.

These are edible straight up.
Poisonous if consumed with alcohol.

Basically - I might die for getting so close to these things.

Another one.
Looks pretty tasty, eh?

Full disclosure - I never eat mushrooms I find in the wild. I'm not good enough at ID'ing them and the gap from "perfecty fine" to "you're fucked" is pretty narrow.

Took a ride on the quad to clear my head after a shit day at work - found this huge mushroom. Thing is about the size of a mini-basketball.

Pretty sure it's a puffball, which are edible...

But it might be an earthball, which are poisonous.

Which is why I don't eat wild mushrooms. ?
I have food in the fridge.
