Yesterday I saw a Blue Jay and a Mockingbird almost square off. Would have been great. That was going to be a Pride rules match but the Jay flew away.

I love blue jays but they're not going to beat a mockingbird in a fight. Mockingbirds approach every fight like it's the last fight they're ever going to have. They have zero apparent fear of injury or death.

or, since your wife was on an airplane during a pandemic, you could just continue to quarantine out in the woods by yourself for a couple more weeks.

Sounds like a good plan to me, and put your safety first!
