No I believe it's real. It's an Ed D like Bill Cosby. People are just annoyed that she's not a medical doctor, but teachers with an EdD are sometimes addressed as doctor. I really don't think it's as big of a deal as they're making it out. It's just that she's being addressed that way in a context outside of her profession.
