depends on your location and the time frame in which it rises or falls
True. I've been gobbling up homes that are 1 row back from ocean front.

If I can get a little more sea level rise, I'll be sitting with Bob Uecher.

when my kids were in school in OR, I took the school calendar and worked it out that teachers worked almost exactly 6 months of 40 hr weeks.
Did you factor in grading and parent calls? Those things usually happen evenings and weekends, so I'm curious if the 6 months includes all those hours.

They get some prep periods built in, but it's not enough for all that plus writing lesson plans - which you have to do regularly when the curriculum keeps changing, which we've been seeing in recent years.

If you're middle school or higher where the kids change teachers for different classes, a teacher can have 100+ kids to keep up with. If you have to grade essays or reports, that's a lot.

My mom's a middle school teacher in Queens. By the time the summer comes, the long break is good. It has some negative side effects in terms of child care etc., but as a parent I also feel like my kids needs the break.

As someone who is not a teacher, I wish I had that break too.

most salaried professions are based on a 50hr week. It's not uncommon for salaried positions to have burst requirements that last a month of 80hr/week.

it's hard to think of a straight 40/wk 50wk/yr job that makes $70k
