FAFO. The US doesn't need trade with Canada. We only export roughly 1.2% of our goods to Canada. Canada on the other hand exports roughly 40% of their goods to the US. He didn't have a leg to stand on.
A couple things, 1) No one needs trade with anyone. 2) When you're talking about tariffs import is what matters, not export. 3) You're doing a victory lap for something that was announced by the government in December.

On point 1 you're wrong. Canada absolutely needs trade. Point number 2 is incorrect, however I think you understand that you're rewording what I said. US allows 40% of Canada's export into the country. Therefore 40% of Canada's goods would be subject to tariffs. US on the other hand...1.2% of goods exported. Point number 3, the victory lap is because Trudeau FAFO, then only switched course mere hours ago after attempting to flex and threatening his own tariffs on US goods.
Keep in mind none of this needed to happen to begin with. Trump is simply asking Canada and Mexico to be good neighbors.

Well, no. Canada wants trade. Want and need aren't the same.

Remembering that Americans pay tariffs on Canadian exports...

Maybe protecting the bottom line of major corporations is a concern for you. I don't really care, they should be able to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Not really, no. Here's the same announcement on the government website from December:

I agree.

Trump is simply asking Canada and Mexico to be good neighbors.
It isn't Canada or Mexico's fault that America can't manage their borders to protect their citizens. I thought that was one of the big complaints about Biden, but it looks like Trump can't handle the job either.

Does that sound like someone willing to comply with simple requests? No, because he wasn't. How do I know this? Because he didn't.

In reference to our border, it is Mexico and Canada who share our borders. Mexico and Canada both know illegals are simply moving through their countries to go to the US. They are allowing these illegals into their countries, not enforcing their own laws, knowing that the illegals and contraband won't be staying in their countries. No shits given. Well, now based on the actual tariffs that were passed by Trump (they were signed, sealed, and delivered), they seem to care, don't they? Who do you think would have been hurt by the tariffs? I'll wait.

What are you talking about? JT was doing that, Trump threatened tariffs, JT threatened tariffs back, now we're the same place we were before Trump threatened tariffs. Sounds like it was Trump that FAFO.

Lol. We've been taking your trash in since 2016.

Who do you think would have been hurt by the tariffs?
By Trump's tariffs? You would have through a 25% increase on everything, and large corporations that export a lot of their production may have seen a decrease in sales. I say may, because something like a car can't be built in America and as a result whether you're paying the 25% tariff on the whole car or on the parts that combine to make the car is kind of irrelevant.

In an average recent year US border agents bust about 19kg (41lbs) of fentanyl at the Canadian border.

In an average recent year UD border agents bust about 7,000kg (15,432lbs) of fentanyl at the Mexico border.
This just in...1/3 of that 41lbs of fentanyl had no connection to Canada, LOL!

Hilarious!
