It'll be interesting to hear which side argues that a taser is a lethal weapon versus a less than lethal weapon.

If the police department or the union in any way supports the fact that the taser represents a lethal threat requiring lethal response, And that is then used to exonerate the police officer, then surely that set some serious case precedent for charges against police who use tasers in places where lethal force is not needed.

One thing I'm seeing glossed over is that it can be both things.

It's accepted that it's not as lethal as being shot with a firearms center mass, but that doesn't mean it's not without possible complications. That being said, the intention of using a taser is to incapacitate the person on the other end of it. Which means it's viable for restraining a suspect, but not something you can have your on duty officers falling victim to when it's in the hands of a suspect.

LoL. you've been reading Taser's propaganda that came out after Killing Them Safely.

During NMI, all the muscles contract. It doesn't "incapacitate" in a way that lets you control the person.
the shock has to stop and they have to voluntarily relax their muscles to be cuffed/controlled.

That's a good point, making all the muscles contract so you can control a person isn't at all like incapacitating them.

"I had to shoot him dead because of the chance the taser could have a complication causing death"

"I had to shoot him dead because the fleeing suspect could have stopped one of us from giving chase with the taser"

Those sound rife with reasons they would fail in court.
