Today I Learned

that the iconic red Swingline Stapler did not exist when Office Space was made. Mike Judge took 4 staplers to an auto body shop and had them painted red (so the stapler would show up better on film). Several years later, Swingline decided to start producing the stapler, and it's now their highest selling product...entirely due to product placement, for which they paid nothing, of a product that didn't exist.

Of the 4 original staplers, 2 were destroyed in production, Mike Judge has one, and Stephen Root (Milton) has one.
One of my all time favs + I compare so much that happens IRL to scenes in that movie

Today I learned that on the set of Chronicles of Riddick, between scenes, Diesel, Thandie Newton, Karl Urban and Judi Densch played D&D together.

Locally, Milwaukee is or used to be called Cream City, because of the nifty cream colored bricks they make there.

Nobody else calls it Cream City because nobody cares about Milwaukee anyways

I don't like that Evans fellow, he's always telling everyone that he's rich
I watch a lot of those guys, have done for years. When I moved in with the missus a couple of years ago, I would sometimes play a vid while she was reading or crafting or whatever. She would say "I can't stand that guy with the annoying laugh." I would say "what, Rich Evans? Nah he's gold, he'll grow on you."

A couple of months ago, I was watching a Half in the Bag where they played a covert audio recording of Rich Evans watching the movie in the theatre and laughing inappropriately. I caught the missus giggling. Called her out and yep, through osmosis she has now realised that Rich Evans is quality.

He's a goddamn National treasure.
That laughter is 100% pure mirth, a joy to hear... even though no audio filtering can tame it.
Great crew

Yeah they come across so genuine and relatable, it's good. All of them bring something different as well. Mike is my favourite because I really enjoy his dry, monotone humour, but Jay seems like such a good dude and I respect the purity of his movie geekdom. And Rich Evans is Rich Evans, there's only one of him on YouTube.

Special points to family man Jack, who's also got a great laugh.

I still don't know if anything will top Colin breaking.

Actually I don't know if I can breathe through the ass without a gasmask. I just ripped one and it smells worse than the Holocaust chambers. Fuck me it stinks.

“The official definition of the probability of precipitation by the National Weather Service is the chance of precipitation (rain, snow, etc.) occurring at any one spot in the area covered by the forecast.”

“One simple equation used among meteorologists is P = C x A, or theprobability of precipitation equals the meteorologist’s confidence that it will rain, times the percentage of the area that is expected to get rainfall. For example, if we’re 100% confident that 30% of the Valley will get rainfall, then there’s a 30% chance for rain. If we’re 50% confident that 100% of the Valley will get rain, then there’s a 50% chance of rainfall.”

Today I learned that all bear growls in movies are dubbed.

Bears only growl when they're actually angry, so movie bears are taught to hang their mouth open and drool.

Foley Artists do the rest.

English refers only to people and things that are from England specifically. Thus, to be English is not to be Scottish, Welsh nor Northern Irish. British, on the other hand, refers to anything from Great Britain, meaning anyone who lives in Scotland, Wales or England are considered British.

I'll never remember this

I can barely comprehend not knowing that. Not being able to remember it is baffling.
