If you don't want to mount a bipod, you can get something like these. I believe I picked mine up from Walmart. I like them well enough.I bought a Tikka .308 rifle and vortex scope a couple years ago with the idea of tip toeing into some longer range shooting. I never got around to sighting the damn thing in until yesterday and I had a blast. One thing is like to run by some of the more experienced here is, should I invest in a bipod? The range I go to has some wood props with cloth on top to rest the gun and it is very helpful. Would a bipod be even better for stability?

Bottom target was getting the scope sighted in at 108 yds. Top was after some adjustments. Not claiming to be anything special and it was my first time at anything over 50yds. But still happy with results and have some work to do.
On the OG BBQ thread I posted about "hot sauce weeks" and how I wind up eating rice, chicken and ranch by Friday...Also enjoying some of these bad boys this weekend. The spousal unit procured them from a coworker. Ghosts and Scorpions.
Please say a prayer for my butthole.

This X2. A good front and rear bag are a excellent tool for building a firing position. If you don't want to mount a bipod, you can get something like these. I believe I picked mine up from Walmart. I like them well enough.

B8s at 25 and beyond have improved my game a lot overall. What has really improved has been my shot calling and my ability to apply it to my dry fire.15 yard B8? I only recently started incorporating 25 yard B8's into my range session. I'm still a work in progress and on a good day I'll keep it all in the black but most of the time I'm all over, including some fliers. That being said, when I first started I was lucky to even hit the target.

No speed bulls. Recently I haven't been able to shoot in the open bay where I can use my shot timer so I have to guesstimate my times. Sometimes I take my time and shoot but most of the times I'm probably around 8 seconds on ave. if I do 10 shots. I fluctuate between 5 - 10 shots when doing B8's. No particular reason other than; sometimes I don't feel like doing it so I shoot 5 rounds 1 - 2 times just to force myself to do it that session.B8s at 25 and beyond have improved my game a lot overall. Have you started shooting speed bulls yet? That's some humbling shit. Seeing dudes get good scores at 4.21, 4.35 etc is always wild to see. I sure as fuck ain't there yet lol.
No Fail at 25 is one of my favorite drills, shot cold like its supposed to be. The par time seems generous but considering you can only blow it once, you definitely have to be on your game to get a decent score and clear the par time, at least 9 times.
I started singing the song as soon as I saw James McMurty.Listening to James McMurtry. Some of the best gun related lyrics ever written:
Bob and Mae come up from
Some little town way down by
Lake Texoma, where he coaches football
They were two-A champions for two years running
But he says they won't be this year
No, they won't be this year
And he stopped off in Tushka at the pop knife and gun place
Bought a SKS rifle and a couple full cases of that steel core ammo
With the Berdan primers from some East bloc nation
That no longer needs 'em
And a Desert Eagle, that's one great big old pistol
I mean, fifty caliber made by bad-ass Hebrews
And some surplus tracers for that old BAR
Of Slaton's as soon as it gets dark, we're gonna have us a time
A master songwriter.I started singing the song as soon as I saw James McMurty.
This verse always cracks me up.
Ruth-Anne and Lynn, they wear them cut-off britches
And then skinny little halters and they're second cousins to me
Man, I dont care, I want to get between them
With a great big 'ol hard-on
Like an ol' Bodark fencepost
That you can hang a pipe rail gate from
Do some sister twisters till the cows come home
And we'll be having us a time
LOL.... that's not real though... is there a Military Meme thread here?
Those guns are so cool. Don’t get me wrong the USP is a classic but I remember when the HK45 came out and thinking it was the new hot shit. I need to grab one eventually.Posted this in another thread.
I was able to snag my HK 45 several months back that I carried on the road. I asked to buy it when I left and was told I couldn't only retirees could buy their guns. I told the head armorer I would pay full retail for it so they could buy a new one. Nope.
Well first day of the academy we have to write down the serial numbers of all our equipment. I still had the notebook
One of my friends is a member of the firearms team, I gave him the serial number and said if this ever gets traded in let me know.
Several months ago it was and now is currently in my safe, I paid half retail.
I love this gun.
Congrats! I'm sure that has more sentimental value to you than it would to anyone else. Glad you got it for a good price too.Posted this in another thread.
