Someone say RIA?

13 years ago I wanted a 1911, wife and I were at the gun shop and I was debating between RIA and Kimber raptor 2. Wife asked me which one I wanted, I said I wasn't sure. Opened this up on Christmas morning. I love the RIA. I swapped out the grips on it though.

RIA is criminally underrated, IMO. I don’t remember who it was specifically but the dude overhauled basically everything and more or less started from scratch.

I bought a Tikka .308 rifle and vortex scope a couple years ago with the idea of tip toeing into some longer range shooting. I never got around to sighting the damn thing in until yesterday and I had a blast. One thing is like to run by some of the more experienced here is, should I invest in a bipod? The range I go to has some wood props with cloth on top to rest the gun and it is very helpful. Would a bipod be even better for stability?

Bottom target was getting the scope sighted in at 108 yds. Top was after some adjustments. Not claiming to be anything special and it was my first time at anything over 50yds. But still happy with results and have some work to do.

What are you trying to accomplish? if you are just wanting to see accuracy potential sandbag it...and get a rear bag or bean sock. The Tikka is a light rifle....set a sling, adjust it to fuck around with the tension so threading your support arm through and lay it on the sling. This tensions the gun down into the front and rear bag. Adjust it so it's not crazy....just enough to snug it down.

If you do get a bipod. set a piece of drawer liner rubber mat onto bench to keep it from sliding forward the gun when you build your position...tension into the gun. Again, sock or rabbit ear bag....I prefer a sock or smal squeeze bad that I adjust on the angle of the bootom of the rear stock

Yes, they are. They’re not a custom fit gun but still very nice for what you have to give for one.

That's the one I have. After pricing out the options for a Kimber SWAT build, (and losing a used Kimber TLE II auction because I logged in 2 minutes too late...it sold for $570...), I figured fuck it, get the 9mm with a rail and call it a day.

I wish RIA made a 1911 with a pic rail and front cocking serrations.

Just won this. Been shooting my 1911 a lot recently and figured what the hell. I’ve had great experience with my RIA
They have gotten pretty solid. Joe Chambers, master 19/2011 builder and full on autistic nerd, has spoken surprisingly highly of them, the current frame to fit numbers and he's good friends with one of their main guys. Says they do things suprisingly correct throughout the build process and they actually care about building guns that work.

Knocking out a couple gun projects and building more target stands while I wait for this monsoon to die down.

I'm an idiot so I forgot the fucking shot time AND my god damn range belt lol. But I did bring a pole of holsters, so I can run concealed or from some of the competition holsters.

Arod will be pleased to know I brought the leather holster and mag pouches for the 1911 so I can do some shooting like a real man.

Might set up some steel at 500 yards so I can actually use the 1911 properly! 1000010388.jpg1000010389.jpg

They do it’s gross

That’s not a 1911 because it’s chambered in the caliber for children and “men” with tiny Asian woman hands.

Goofing aside, I think that would be a pretty good entry into the 2011 world for people that are unsure about the platform and I have definitely toyed with the idea of getting one.

Half my shooting time today has been working on guns, because it's wayyy better when you have a bunch of space.

But I did shoot some bill drills at 25, and some speed bills. Not great but not terrible.

Also had the advantage of being able to hit the 75 and 100 meter "range" while I was grilling up entirely too much food for two people.

About see if I can piss off the neighbors a bit and get in a bit of low/no light work before it gets too late. I figure a bit before 2100 hours ain't too bad. I still hear generators running a mile or two away so people are obviously still up lol.1000010416.jpg1000010420.jpg1000010423.jpg1000010427.jpg1000010430.jpg

They should just be happy we don't binge drink and mag dump 75 round AK drums at 4am in the morning anymore 🤣🤣🤣

Gotta knock out a few target stands with the old PVC from my circa 2012 giant fuck off weed garden for tomorrow when it's not pouring down rain lol

I need a tripod or a head mounted camera on my ear pro like Hody is rocking.

Couple 25 yard bill drills, plus the rest of the mag, and no light No Fail strong hand only, plus the rest of the mag. Par on both no fails was blown, and anything out side the black is a fail. Some of those in the 8 I was able to call real easily, which is a victory to me.

At least I knew where my shanked ass shaky fucking shots went. With the exception of the one outside the B8 center up top. That was me rushing the draw, and taking a shot into the ether and hoping what I saw of the dot was going to be acceptable. If it was a Azone I would have still been happy with that.

That one was still a huh I wonder where that one actually went I don't think it was good though.

The 3x and one 10 ring hit, looked and felt great and wish I could always do that.

All the 9 ring hits that were clustered were 100 percent me saying "good enough" and breaking the shot. It wasn't until I said fuck the three second par time and slowed it all down mentally, that those 9s turned into 10s and X ring hits lol.1000010473.jpg1000010467.jpg1000010466.jpg

We have our damn fantasy football draft today and they moved it to 2pm. Who the fuck wants to do that shit? I’m supposed to be half drunk by the start and full drunk by the end but I’ve got too much to do today to be drunkish at 3.

Made French toast on croissant bread this morning. I don’t like eating shit like that often but god damn was it good.

Still annoyed over forgetting the fucking shot time and the gun belt.

At least I brought gamer holsters and concealment holsters.

Taking a late lunch after shooting before my mom and I drive around in the woods a bit.

The shot timer app works pretty good as long as you can keep your phone right next to you, just couldn't video any of these runs at the same time.

Decent bill drill, and a 10-10-10 that I wasn't unhappy with but wasn't super excited over either.
