Maia did his absolute best to engage in a fight. The same can't be said for Woodley.
oddly that is the same way I felt about masvidal in the fight he had with maia
Woodley did exactly what Maia did to jorge...only fight where they can avoid the others best skills
Not saying I enjoyed the fight...but if you wanted a fight then put masvidal in there...If you wanted an attempted human backpack then you use Maia
What did we really expect from this fight?
Mas Vidal Sassoon went after Maia and touched him up a bit more than Tyrone and looked like he wanted to beat that ass as opposed to Tyrone
and lost a decision via backpack
that is why wood did that gameplan
I blame judges for not just calling fights 10-10 or just a draw...odd amount of rounds and 10-9 rounds as a norm are anti draw
when many fights are exactly that...a draw
I hate Dana but I really don't like Tyronn. He talks A LOT and then performs pretty badly in the ring. You gotta love all these fighters who go out and bore the shit out of the fans and then turn around and tell everyone to fuck off because "it's all about winning". Actually, it's all about making money...
There is nothing that means anything outside of fixed fights:
- They have been caught using paid posters on internet forums
- The married owner has been caught sending booty call messages to ring girls on twitter
- Dana was walking around dressed head-to-toe in Nike gear at the airport right at the Reebok deal kickoff
- There was ALL SORTS of fuckery regarding the Xience deal and its legitimacy.
- Egghead, Little Swole and Big Frank are all OBVIOUSLY juiced out of their fucking minds as they talk about cleaning up the sport.
- The Fertittas father was a mobster and the right hand man of the guy played by comedian Kevin Pollak in Scorse's "Casino" and they are all tied to a long history of Mafia relations.
- etc. etc. etc.

I'm not sure that counts seeing as they're the same company.
I expected Maia to do exactly what he did. I expected Woodley to focus on using his wrestling to keep the fight where he wanted it, which would allow him to use his super, duper KO power were always hearing about. Instead he used his wrestling to keep the fight standing so he could throw a handful of jabs.
The only guy who had any interest in winning the fight on his own was the one who's eye was swollen shut halfway through the first round.
Truth. One guy went in there and tried to win, one guy just tried not to lose. Woodley should stop referring to himself as a 'fighter' and go with MMA 'athlete' or MMA 'player'.

Finishes are what I remember and value about a fighter...but MMA now is a lot of winning without fighting to finish, as we saw in that fight
I think all fight contracts should value the finish and compensate generously for finishes
I personally don't agree with that. Hendo/Shogun, Bigfoot/Hunt, Lawler/Condit among others are some of the greatest fights we've ever had the pleasure of seeing. They shouldn't be punished financially for being tough bastards.
There's also a huge difference between watching Tyron try not to fight for 5 rounds and GSP winning a 5 round decision while trying to advance position for the duration of the fight.
