UFC on Fox 14: GUS vs. RUMBLE - January 24, 2015 (Discussion Thread)

IMO tonight's card is definitely one of the better ones in recent months, as far as every fight being fun to watch from the beginning. Can't wait for the next 2 fights
I gotta be honest, I do want Gus to win because I really want to see the rematch. But something about this, the closer it gets to the main event, the more I'm thinking Johnson is going to go out and obliterate him. Logically, I pick Gus, but Johnson has that ridiculous, absolutely freakish power. Hard to know how elite he is until after this fight. The Lil Nog win was crazy but Lil Nog has long been a walking heavy bag.
It's crazy that he fought at 170 and is KOing guys at 205 now, Lil Nog though slow was known to have a great chin and had only been put out once before. I just feel like, everyone is hopnig/banking on JBJ/Gus 2, but whenever there is that much pressure on someone it can hurt them. Gus is in his home country, 25k fans, a title shot on the line that would be hue for his career. If he slips up for one second, a single punch from Johnson could end the fight.
Then again, Gus could rise to the occasion like Conor did and take all the spotlight/the event itself in, while being totally focused on the task at hand. The thing is, unlike Conor, Gus is facing a guy who has fucking insane power.. It just takes that one mistake

If that happens, he should move up to HW instead of just beating guys like Bader/Davis.. But I don't think it'll happen, seems like the UFC doesn't really want their champs ever switching weight classes and risking their drawing power.
