I read and saw some stuff from her on him years ago. Seems a really weird relationship. If I remember correctly she came off like she wanted money from him, and he came off as being a cheap fuck and never hooking her up.

If the book is lies, I'm shocked the Egg wouldn't sue. Zuffa and DFW have shown in the past that they are quick to sue. I dunno though, haven't read the book.Zeph;n19440 said:

Totally agree with Dougie. I started reading the book out of morbid curiosity a couple of years ago but couldn't make it more than 15-20 pages before skipping around in search of interesting passages. I never found any.
It's unfathomable to me how a mother could hate her own son like this, so I suspect significant drug/alcohol abuse on her part. A mother's love is the paradigm of unconditional, and it takes something very powerful and dark to interfere with it. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
What I find interesting is that she must not have been able to get someone to co-author/write it for her. Dana is certainly famous enough to merit attention for a dirt-piece like this, but there has to be a minimum standard of quality met before anyone will care. Her thoughts are a chaotic mess. The book contains countless typos and the prose has a distinctively juvenile feel (which would fit the profile of a lifelong drug-user, one whose mental maturity stopped in adolescence). The hate in her soul just isn't interesting enough to make you want to turn the pages, and hate is all there is in it.
But it's not a hate you can grasp; it's the voice of an intensely narcissistic/ruined soul that can't express anything but immature, circular suffering.

Well if you look at how dana acts, then you would understand how she acts, they are pretty much cut from the same cloth, so i suspect that its all true. i am sure some of it is stretched but it shows that dana is truely a POS with or without a book i realized this years ago.
There just isn't anything newsworthy in the book. Who he dated, where he hung out, blah blah blah. It's like listening to her blather on about how she was abused and fought back for about a paragraph, how Dana had cold eyes when he was born, how she dislikes his wife....all boring non-news junk.

It the option of the reader I guess, ive heard alot of people who believe all the stuff and ive heard alot that do not. Its however you choose to believe. Only her and him know the facts all the rest is just blowing smoke up each others asses
I found some of what I read believable, so that's not the issue. I'm sure Dana has been shaped to a fair extent by the mother who raised him and chose to write this truck-stop Wendy-from-Breaking-Bad level trash. I also don't care, because the book was in such poor taste. Technical excellence wouldn't have saved it, either. Nor would interesting/unexpected facts imo.
