Picard is what is happening if you let a senile actor and hacks run the show. The character simply is another guy and the writing is bonkers.
Only the last Data scene has impact imo.
But I constantly had in mind that Geordi was Data's friend, Picard more often than not was a dick to Data and certainly did not form a close bond with him - nor most others of the crew for that matter. Here the premise of the show is that they were best friends and have that crazy special connection. Ugh.
Where is Geordi?

Discovery is also run by hacks and a horrible soap-opera with a lot of overboarding special effects to cover it up.
Main character doesn't work and cannot carry a show, and if you noticed: changed considerably.
Season one (s)he was Vulcan-like and boring. There is a reason Spock and Data were side characters, because they work as such.
After season one (s)he becomes an emotional mess that is boring. They try to bring across meaning now by having Michael cry constantly. It's cheap, dumb and I don't care.
They have some interesting characters and angles on the show here and there, but overall it's shit.

I wish they'd have a show where they get back to exploring new planets and cultures.
You know, Star Trek.

There's a new series on I forget what service, that looks more like that...
Star Trek Strange New Worlds, I think.
Has names you know to make sure you know IT'S STAR TREK!!!! like Uhura's granddaughter for some reason.

But if it's really planet to planet exploration I'm in.

Rebecca Romajn (sp?) is playing Number One.

I get that. I also liked ds9 tho so it's not totally out of bounds to make a non-exploring show.

If the writing is good the show will be good.

Exactly. I had hopes for the Nu Trek but it's STINO.
If there was good writing, it wouldn't stop me. Good writing can keep me invested despite nitpicking the flaws.

My understanding of the Picard series is that it introduces some unlikable characters, and reduces the ones you loved to caricatures, as the writers try to make older viewers forget their established character traits.

I read that the second season is supposed to be better already, since they changed some of the characters - literally character.
First season everyone was a brooding mess with endless baggage, now some are just more normal or something.

Dunno maybe I'll watch the second season some time.

You talking about Picard?

I just can't get down with a future Earth that sucks.
ST is a show about a wondrous future, where people use science and technology to extend the marvels of human achievement beyond our locality.

Not shooting and anger, so very much

Mystique in the first X Men. Hot.
I checked her filmography on Wikipedia, that was between 15 and 20 years ago.

Father time is a cruel motherfucker, I think she has had some work done and it just makes her smile look a bit weird.
