Any rules. Funky Ben dominated all those chumps in One FC. Wrestling is the best art, no question
You said it - “chumps”. It wasn’t like he fought world beaters there. The guy closest to a world beater (Santos) who he fought gave him one of the toughest fights before Askren poked him

Excellent point here. Same with the cage making it much easier to wall n stall just grinding dudes for minutes compared to the traditional ring.
The cage also makes it easier to keep circling endlessly and avoid engaging with a better striker while in a ring you'd get trapped in a corner.

internet, global enthusiasm for mma, kinda like sushi-- you can get world class stuff all over the world, but you have to give Japan it's due. Also, it's a billion dollar industry (MMA). I remember as a boxing fan years ago thinking-- until they start posting Vegas Odds on UFC fights, it would remain in the shadows of boxing. Obviously, things are much different now with Billions being wagered on MMA fights around the world. Also, when the Heavyweight champ of boxing became a foreigner, our enthusiasm evaporated. It was gonna happen anyway. Americans don't like it when foreigners beat them up.

Really and truly the modern rule set has taken away most of the weapons a striker/BJJ guy has to make wrestler's regret diving in.

also there are no yellow cards and no punishment for stalling.....oh you're going to stand me up? lucky for me just smothered the fuck out of this guy for 2 minutes.

The only defense to a good wrestler now is good take down defense and defensive wrestling....which logically is a battle already lost when you're standing across the cage from a Div 1 beast. Beside's GSP you never see a non wrestler out wrestle a wrestler.

Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir 1 is a perfect example.
