Once again, I`d like to thank everyone for the help.

On the tv we had in the bedroom it was easy as pie.

This HP computer don`t even have a HDMI port....they are are all USB`s.

I will take pictures of everything if that helps.

General - Anyone own a "dumb" phone or go back to the flip phone?

I've been contemplating purchasing a "dumb" phone. Or going back to a flip phone temporarily. Where I only get text messages and phone calls. I have been too addicted to my phone, always on it, always checking it, etc.. I sort of wanted to take a step back. Just curious if anyone has done...

Is that your PC under the TV? I thought it was an audio receiver.

Flash for Android: Open camera app, look for a cog looking button and hit it, mine is on the lower left, look for a button that looks like a lightening bolt and hit that. Feel free to do the opposite to turn it off taking pics.

Then take pics of the ports for both devices. The back of your TV should have a label, so take a pic of that too.
 
There should be ports on the back as well. Ports on the front tend to be for things you commonly connect and disconnect. There might be an HDMI port back there too.
 
USB is a bitch. Super finicky. Might be a driver issue. Port itself might have an issue. Might be some display settings you need to mess with. Would be much easier if it's HDMI to HDMI. Did you just buy the USB to HDMI adapter? Is it supposed to be plug and play? Does it support your version of Windows? Does it have instructions? Can you google the model of the adapter and see if there is a driver to install or ask chatgpt for things to try/settings to modify.

Many(most/all) of them do have driver installs that need to happen first. Some of the “HD” versions will only support 720 or 1080(I or P in different versions). Others can support 4K/120Hz. So it’ll depend on what he has & what he’s trying to pass through it.
 
A lot of times there is an "INPUT" button on your remote that allows you to select which port to receive signal from.

I can plug multiple devices into the back of my TV like a USB stick or a ROKU device. Then when I hit the INPUT button it brings up a menu allowing me to select which signal to watch.

He's already mentioned switching the input of his TV to HDMI3, so he's done that. It would be nice to know:

a) What model his TV it is which is typically printed on the back of the TV. Taking a pic of that would provide that info.
b) be able to ensure the cable is in face installed correctly as well as what other input options are available with his TV. Taking a pic of the inputs that show the labels with the cable plugged in would provide that info.
c) What model his PC is. He should be able to pull up System Information on his PC to figure that out. At least that's where it use to be. As I mentioned, I haven't used Windows in a very long time.
d) What is port setup on his PC is on both the front and the back. A pic would provide that info.

Given that info, we can figure out if he has it setup correctly, if the PC can output what the TV requires as input, and what needs to be done to configure Windows to output through USB, as well as what needs to be done to configure his TV to use whichever HDMI input he would like to use.

If his PC can output USB can convert that to USB using his adapter (which most modern PCs can), I think that would be preferred over using lower resolution outputs later converted to HDMI.
