No matter your opinion on Putin. You have to at least give him credit for being able to win a rigged election. I mean could you imagine what type of incompetent sack of excrement It would take to fail at that?

Putin is very popular in Russia and would win whether the election is rigged or not.

Russians know he is corrupt.
They don't care...



Russians were promised Coca-Cola and Levi's and the oligarchs chopped up the country.

Russians carry a longing for some level of international prestige. Strongman Putin offers a return to the Glory Days of the unification of the union.

Putin will continue a campaign of Boogeyman and land taking until Russian Commodities are priced high enough to improve GDP and Reliance in Russian exports. The average russian citizen is politically sensitive to both. Putin protecting from The Boogeyman or Putin growing the economy and your lifestyle. Either way, Putin is the solution.

Rhetorical questions don't make me wrong.

Putin wants a mandate and I've already admitted that said there's corruption.

He would win the election anyway. He doesn't want to just win. He wants to stomp it so he can do whatever he wants afterwards.

He might still win even if he allowed Navalny to run and even if the elections were not rigged, but he's not taking amy chances.
