I can't see how he wins that fight. Worst possible match-up for him stylistically
This seems like how every fight that has one wrestling specialist is described, usually it's accurate. I just hope Tony doesn't try to prove his BJJ by willingly going to the mat early on. I'd like to see him jab and jog for a round or 2 then if successful turn it up and finish him via TKO. Wishful thinking I know.

I don't see Tony being that cerebral in a fight. Hard to see him sticking to a game plan, especially if things don't go his way early on.

So far yes. I love seeing fighters than earn how to rise to the occasion, would love to see Fergs fight like an experienced champ in this one.

Full Agree.
Win or Lose, I'd like to see Tony make this fight competitive. But I can see this being a one-sided mauling by the Russian Bear.

he's getting a little ahead of himself, he's gotta beat Tony first, and I don't think that's going to happen.

and Conor doesn't care if he never fights Khabib.

Khabib will still have to beg for the fight even if he manages to become champ.
Question is tho... why would Khabib wanna fight Mcgregor if he gets the belt? if hes undefeated and has the belt then he doesnt need to fight Mcgregor at all... he still would be considered the best lightweight ever... meanwhile Mcgregor will always be known money grabbing Burger King sellout!

Tony has a much better chance at beating Khabib than does Conor. But i don’t think Tony gets it done either.

As for the talk of makin Conor beg, that’s just media bullshit. Of course he wants to fight Conor. He would be crazy to pass on that payday. Especially when it’s a very favorable matchup and a chance to stake a claim to one of the best ever in the division. He can say he will make Conor get in line, but i don’t believe it for a minute. He don’t want Conor to lose until he’s the one to beat him.

100 percent.

Big mistake to even talk about Conor right now. Ferguson is very dangerous, everywhere.

And Khabib is a little too late, Conor already changed the game while he was eating Tiramisu and getting injured.

he's really good at chaos tho...
sure - but Khabib is the opposite of chaos. He controls and pounds. There's going to be limited opportunities for Tony to catch something in a moment of chaos. But there's a couple every fight, and Tony makes the most of them.

Khabib would be able to buy an all-gold papakha if he got to fight Conor

Khabib is not going to give Tony any opportunities.

I mean I know it was a long time ago and everything, but Danny fucking Castillo arguably beat Fergie Ferg by wrestle-fucking him.

I'll give Tony a pass for the Vannata fight as far as preparation goes, but no excuses for thr Castillo fight. He knew Danny boy was gonna try to LnP him to Bolivia.

And come on, Siver? Like the Mendes fight, Conor didn't even worry abouy TDD bc he knew he could win despite getting taken down.

How many times did Eddie Alvarez take Conor down?

You know I'm not taking a shot at Conors Tdd. I'm using an isolated incident sarcastically to point out your criticism on Tony, both aren't an accurate way to measure and that fight with Danny was 4 years ago.

Are high level BJJ guys usually known for amazing tdd? Most are usually happy to hit the mat and look for sweeps/subs. I'm certain Khabib will get him down, no question there. To me it's about when it happens (what round and how early in) and can Tony escape, survive or threaten off his back.

I admitted the first time I mentioned Castillo that the fight was a long time ago. I prob should have mentioned it again.

I just don't think that any high-level BJJ guys are gonna beat Kebab. I think the only way to beat him is to avoid the takedown using footwork (Tony's footwork is terrible, you can admit this) and then landing precision punches, which Tony can't do either.

Conor is excellent at both, and that's why I think he smokes Khabib.

Ferguson is a pressure fighter who wins fights by tiring guys out and then submitting them. That won't work against a guy who also likes to pressure but is a better grappler.

Yes but Conor also gases and doesn't respond well to being bullied himself, which is what the crazy Russian will do the whole time. I'm not saying one will win over the other, I can see both walking out victorious, but if Khabib dodges enough to get Conor down for two rounds (like Mendez did easily), it very well may be the end of Conor's night. But if Conor catches him coming in (VERY possible) then it's night night for the Russian bear. I myself am torn who to root for. I'm not a fan of either so it's tough to hope for anything but a double KO.

You are absolutely right in that the fight is compelling because there's a chance Conor could starch Khabib early and there's a chance Khabib could use GnP to tire Conor out.

I think the former is a lot more likely, but the match-up is still intriguing to me.

It's a lot more intriguing than Conor fighting Fergie Ferg, who I feel has zero chance.

I don't disagree with this statement at all... I like Fergies style and all but I have a feeling he will try to be the bigger man and make it a fist fight. If that's the case, night night Fergie...
