Be honest: what would the MMA world be saying if Conor won a title from 11th ranked guy?

I know I know, Conor fanboys, trolls, omg how can someone like Conor when I don't like him, wah wah wah.

Just put that aside for a second and answer this truthfully.

Lets say Eddie Alvarez slipped off the weigh in stage before the Conor fight, and Conor's replacement was the #11th ranked guy for the undisputed LW title, 24 hours notice or whatever. And lets say Conor goes the distance with that guy - it's a dominant win, he lands some good punches, but he can't get the finish.

Do you think the MMA community (in general, not only this forum), would be welcoming him as the true undisputed champion? Do you think everyone would be cool with him winning a world title by beating a non champion, 11th ranked guy?

This is not an anti Khabib thing: this was out of his control and he fought the guy they put in front of him. He could do no more or no less.

But I really believe there is a lot of hypocrisy with MMA fans in their view of Conor. Which is why if you're a Conor fan you get labelled as a troll.

OP has a point here. Having said that Conor got his FW title shot off beating Siver who was out if the top ten. Then got his LW title shot by going 1-1 with Diaz who iirc was ranked out of the top 5.

I recognize Khabib as the LW champ. He could've just said his not fighting anyone if he wanted to. He was committed to going in with Tony who's a monster. He couldn't control the series of events that led to him fighting Al.

Also, anyone with a brain knows that you can only fight who they put in front of you, when you got Conor ducking Khabib, you got Hollaway being pulled, you can only fight who they put in front of you, Khabib has and beat them all, which Conor can't say.

In all fairness in he beat the FW GOAT and the reigning LW champ in spectacular fashion to get the real titles. If I'm going to be critical of who he beat to get the shot I gotta do the same for who he beat to get the title, that fight is far more important.

Conor has knocked out Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez, two legit champions. He stopped Chad Mendes and beat Max Holloway. I don't like the antics or his insults but the guy can fight.

I look more at how many guys that person has beaten and whom they beat instead of looking at the number beside their name

I can understand the frustration over the FW and LW divisions being held up. What I can’t understand is the Conor hate. Did people not tune into/enjoy the Nate fights? Was it not cool to see the FW champ have a chance at the LW belt too? Was the Floyd buildup and fight not entertaining? If you were Conor, making that amount of money and having that much clout, would you have let other people dictate your decisions if you didn’t have to? The haters drive me crazy. This is one of the all-time great characters, who will be part of the MMA story forever. To top it off, he is entertaining inside and outside the cage. Why not enjoy the ride?

Are you sure it's actually biting? I interpret what he's doing as trolling. Could be splitting hairs though.

Exactly that. When he fights , it great . It let me put up with the antics up to a certain point.
The lack of title defenses , plus a poor choice of opponents (innocent bus, but it did take some stones to fight Diaz, and that was a money fight, which is a big motivation) , plus the antics ,
have exceeded the limit of what I'm willing to put up with. Get serious about being a champion,
and I'll take you seriously again. Simple as that.
