You kind of sound like CNN here.
Are you aware Trump has been fully educated & tough on North Korea for 30 years?
He's EXACTLY why this is happening.
Kim Jong Un knows it, as do his military strategists.
They also know he lasered that missile test out of the sky.
And they read his book The art of the deal.
This is happening because Donald Trump beat the odds, sober and tireless for 70 years, came into office with the entirety of the deep state against him, and he's still kicking ass.

Concerning the "office of the Presidency", that office hasn't meant shit for generations but to those who believe it did, Reagan, and....who else?
Marilyn Monroe fucked Kennedy on the Oval office desk, Clinton got blow jobs under it, Obama stole it and took it home, and Johnson threw the desk at Giap to start the Vietnam War.
"The office of the Presidency" holds no more legitimacy than the Queen of England over public policy.
Every President who's walked into the White house save Reagan and even moreso Trump, had puppetstrings attached before they even stepped in the front door.

This illusion is akin to the homecoming King and Queen, and the left needs to pull their heads out of their asses just as much as McCain and the Far right warhawks.

Funny how the most pathetic immoral humans in our country suddenly planted their collective feet on a moral highground that previously didn't exist for anyone with a (D) next to their name.
There was a quote on the news tonight that correlates well to the Trump presidency:
If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read: 'President Can't Swim"
- lyndon johnson (aka Kenny florian)

Definitely been watching...Actually wish I flew to Singapore to be there..I love Singapore as it is, plus Im also a bit of a global politics nut (I did a Masters of International Relations and North Korea was a big part of my thesis - I've also written stuff thats been internationally published and referenced)...Kinda regretting it but watching closely on the tv anyways.

I am honestly surprised. I’m still not impressed by his knowledge of the situation, but I was wrong to think he had no opinion of the situation prior to becoming president.

CNN's anti Trump bias knows no bounds.

When Trump was feuding with Kim, Trump was a crazy asshole who was going to start nuclear war. "We need a leader who is going to be calm and friendly with other countries, Trump can't get anything done with NK".

Flash forward a few months and Trump is the first US president to meet with North Korea, so now what you hear from last night is "this is a huge accomplishment for Kim Jong Un, he's doing something his father and grandfather failed to do", basically taking all the credit away from Trump and insinuating that he's being manipulated by Kim and this is North Korea winning a victory over stupid Trump.

It's amazing how many time they can pivot the narrative to discredit Trump.

Well to be fair it currently looks like Kim got a better deal. Now I can't help but think Trump has a angle or card up his sleeve by attempting to be accomadating initially because we know he's not very generous and looking for a good deal even among his allies so I'm certain that he's not going to give North Korea what they want over pow remains and a promisary note to denuclearize but right now the detractors are going to criticize Trump's deal as weak because the US is making all the concessions.

I find the idea that North Korea should be giving anything up in order to have a discussion exceptionalist and symptomatic of a Cold War style of diplomacy. This isn't much different from when Obama opened the pathway to Cuba, which his opponents derided (and Trump largely reversed).

Most of the credit for this moment belongs to Moon Jae In, but Trump deserves credit too for being open to it, whether out of naivete or genuine consideration. Symbolically this was good for America's diplomatic reputation and in practice may decrease some of the precarity of life on and around the Korean penninsula.

I'm very fascinated by the narratives of Trump fans who think this is meaningful and Trump opponents who think it's meaningless. Both perspectives seem to be manufactured and canned with very little critical thought.

Which is why it's suspect. As per expected kim hasn't given jack shit and you will see that he wont give anything truly meaningful towards denuclearization while offer to toss worthless crumbs for exchange in big US dollahs.

With Trump allegedly considering to give concessions made during the summit, this way when things do break down (and they will) you can't really say that it's Trump's fault for not responding positively to Kim's attempts at peace which was the mood pre-summit.

I don't for a minute believe Trump has just all of a sudden changed his stance on North Korea and I believe he would have preferred to remain vigilant and cancel the summit and that he knows this will go to shit and all these concessions will get revoked eventually. However if he doesn't at least show he's willing to give Kim a chance, the detractors will blame him for an eternity that he elevated the already tumultuous relations by refusing to meet Kim's goodwill by attending the summit and take a once in a lifetime chance at peace.

All. Bullshit.

All you gotta do is look at Trump going hard at everyone. Why would he give Kim a good deal but haggle others? I think it's because he knows this deal is tentative upon conditions that the Kim regime will never meet but the Trump detractors will have their fun discussing how Trump hard talked but limp wrister against KJI. The big picture is that none of this will ever happen but Trump has to serve an about face to avoid being painted as the cause of this failure. I'm sure he's burning with rage at my commie President's dumb plan right now and that's why he hadn't informed them about suggesting canceling the drills and removing troops (also not going to happen) but it was like a disguised political slap to the Moon administration for kind of entrapping Trump into having to make an effort to appear to be on board with an impossibly stupid and fallacious plan.

I wasn't saying anything to the contrary. Merely commentating on how shit the Iran deal was.

I don't think and truly hope we won't get dragged into another shit deal.

But the Iran deal was far better than what the summit got from North Korea. This is why it seems highly implausible that Trump will go through with it for what he's being offered in return.

Most Koreans do not care and have excused the North as a lost cause.

Why should we thank Moon for initiating something that the majority of his citizens don't want?
