I've had bad grits, and I've had awesome grits. Bad grits are baaaaaaad. I know this, because it was me that made them.

My mom's dad is black, born into a sharecropping family in the south. His grandfather may or may not have been half white, but if he was, it doesn't seem to have been consensual.
My mom's mom is from Panama. Her mother was from Grand Cayman and is afro-caribbean and indigenous. Her father was from England and was half English (white) and half Chinese.
My dad's mom is half German, half Irish.
My dad's dad was Italian.
So miscegenation is a major part of my family tree, but they all lived to tell the tale. I had no contact really with my dad growing up and was raised by my mom and black stepdad so got to enjoy being called "white boy" by my black churchmates and "ni**er" by my white ex mom in law.
